Heart of the Forest

Chapter 1

Monday, another dazzling, depressing, tiring day. I walk slowly but surely, I was alone, with my yellow cotton backpack that my loving mother made for me on my birthday. I loved it so much, I could hug it to sleep every night. On my way to school, I saw something that I've never seen in this neighborhood before, I went closer to get a clearer look. It looked like a shadow, a black figure that I cannot make out of. By the time I got to the point where the shadow once stood, it was already gone. I didn't see what it was. I was scared and was late for class, so I quickly dashed and sprinted my way through the busy crowd to school. I knew there was something was fishy and unusual happening in this town. Could it be a new species? Maybe an unidentified creature? Or is it just my own imagination?

I finally got to school, I went into class, and instead of listening to the teacher - which I normally do - I was thinking about the figure that didn't look like any normal critter nor human from Earth. Something suspicious was happening and I've got to get to the bottom of it, I thought. Soon, it was recess, the bell rang as if it was angry at someone. Everyone went out of the class, leaving me behind still thinking of the eccentric creature that stood near the woods. Suddenly, I felt a hand tap my shoulder, it was Ellie. She asked me with her petite but cute voice "Hey Randy, what are you dreaming about? It's recess, don't you love recess?"

I replied her "Oh I was just thinking about something, I'll be out there in a minute"

She asked with curiosity "Oooh! What 'something' are you thinking about?"

I wasn't sure if I wanted her to know, but I told her anyway. I explained that I saw an ghastly creature standing near the woods, but I couldn't work out what it was and how I wanted to get to the bottom of it. Then she asked me if she could follow along. At this moment I was deep thinking, still considering if I wanted a partner to work with during this prodigious adventure.

As soon as I was going to make a conclusion in my head, she snapped me up into reality again "Can you stop doing that Randy. I feel really lonely when you become a statue. Anyway, I think you would need another partner because it could be dangerous. And I don't want you going alone". I feel like Ellie is so concerning, taking into consideration that she cares for everyone and has a very charming part of her that is really cute.

After school, I went back to the same spot where the shadow once stood, I examined the area, checking if the creature left any sign or trace. So that it would be easier to follow its trail to track down. I stood there for almost an hour, searched and searched, but still found nothing.

Soon after, I went back home being very exhausted and laid my fatigued body on my comfy, fluffy bed. Without notice, I was fast asleep.
