The bright yellow vehicle pulled up in front of a bench, in front of my new school, Eden Hall.
It wasn't my choice to come here. It was mandatory. My parents always wanted what's 'best' for me and they decided to pay for me to get into this academy and I wouldn't want to let them down.. again.
I took a long, depressing look at the school and brushed off the negative energy for the hundredth time today.
_________
"[...] and this will be your locker, Ms..?"
Huh?
"..Oh, um, Flanders. Lisa Flanders." I stifled up a smile at the tall rather old looking man.
"Well then, this is your locker Ms. Flanders.
If you have any trouble, you know where to find me." He finished pointing towards a dark door with a tiny glass window reading off the name 'Dean Buckley'.
As soon as Dean Buckley walked away, I turned towards the locker he had assigned me to and tried to open it. It must've been stuck or something, it refused to open.
"Cmon! Open up!" I grip the lock tightly before seeing a pair of pale hands take over the lock, quickly removing my hands.
"Hey! Don't sweat it!" A long haired brunette with a bright smile stood beside me.
"it won't open." I chuckled awkwardly.
"Oh yeah I totally get it, been there.." A bright looking blonde added beside the brunette.
I nodded silently not really sure what to say.
"Oh uh, I'm Connie, and this is Julie." The brunette introduced.
I noticed the hockey sticks they were holding and I knew we would get along quite well. I mean I moved here from Florida for a better chance. My school over there was shitty and I can't help but admit I had a bad past. I didn't want to feed off the negative energy I used to back there. I needed to be optimistic, and that's exactly how I was going to be.
"I'm Lisa." I smiled blandly.
"..So uh, you girls play hockey?"
"Yeah! We're the Eden Hall Ducks." Connie smirked twirling her stick as if it were a circus baton or something.
"Yeah, I mean it's pretty rad how we got to keep our team name." Julie added, lifting her goalie stick.
"Hey that's cool. I played hockey back in Miami and well, you know, I was hoping I joined the team here.." I hesitantly chuckled not knowing what they'd say or think about me considering the fact that some snobby looking cheerleaders had already shot me dirty glares.
I had some pretty bad anxiety when it came to new schools. It meant new friends, new clases, new teachers, and most bullshitty of all problems, new drama. Julie and Connie seemed pretty nice and I didn't want to mess anything up.
"Do it. You'd be great! I mean, how many years do you have of experience?" Julie side smiled.
"I've been playing since I was six. I uh, It's kind of a family sport thing really." I awkwardly smiled, earning chuckles from the girls.
As soon as the bell rang, the girls took a look at my schedule trying to see if we had any classes together.
"Looks like you have Jules for Geometry, see around Lisa! Bye Julie." Connie's voiced slowly faded the further she walked away.
"Bye Con!" We both shouted.
Julie and I arrived to the class, both taking a seat towards the back of the classroom. My eyes took a second to scan the room and admire how much nicer it was than my old high school. The walls were so much more.. decorated. The floor had NO gum. The people seemed way more friendlier, it looked more school-appropriate I guess, and the cha-
