•No matter who you are or where you are, instinct tells you to go home•
It was late April of the next year when she reappeared. You know the saying "April showers bring May flowers."? That was true this time. Except the in the midst of the downpours came a girl who, to the people who did know her, was presumably dead. Time had passed since the November day she disappeared. Things had gone back to normal. Will returned to school, still continuing to have nightmares quite often. He was a strong boy, and he didn't let his struggles show. He was better than that. Dustin continued to be the comedic relief for the group. And he introduced someone new to the group. Her name was Max. She had just moved into town, and had red hair and an attitude to match. She fit right in. Lucas continued to struggle with how he treated el. He knew that he hadn't been a good friend. And that hurt. Mike had been understandably distraught for months. Heck, he was still dealing with the loss when she returned. She had been gone for a year and half. But no one had forgotten about her. No one spoke about her, because they feared if they did she would never come back home.
Eleven showed up on mirk-wood, just as a police car was driving by. Hopper recognized her right away, and quickly picked her up and took her to the Byers-Hopper household. Where he was met by a shocked Joyce and Jonathan. He hadn't told them anything, it was like they just knew. They began to interrogate her with questions, until hopper put a stop to it.
"She's visibly traumatized. Chill out. Let me call the boys. They'll want to know what's going on."
Fortunately, on this Saturday night, all four boys and max, of course, were at the wheeler house. Karen picked up the phone, and when she had heard the news she almost dropped the phone. She hadn't even met this girl, but she had heard her son talk about her like she put the stars in the sky. He had been devastated without her. And now that she was back, she could have her boy back, too. She immediately told the boys, and they rushed on their bikes to the house where el was.
When they arrived, they didn't know what to say. They all just said "hi el" and each hugged her tightly. Mike hugged her extra tight. Max was understandably confused.
"Okay. Someone explain to me what's happening?"
And they told her the story from the beginning. And she looked at el a blank, sympathetic look. This girl had been through so much.
And el knew right away that they would be the best of friends.
