"Emma Mary Kennedy, get back here!" Not what you expect to hear in the wee hours of the morning, but for me, that's everyday. "You gotta catch me first, Wonnie!" I heard Emma call back. Two seconds later, I heard a squeal and I knew Melody had caught three-year-old Emma Kennedy. I run forward, knowing Emma was smart, but Mel had gotten her to sit on the ground and eat her slice of bread.
At that point, I realized none of the others were up, so I took it upon myself to wake them. I went around to all of the cramped bedrooms, and woke the children up. It was times like this I wish they had better lives; lives that didn't include living in an orphanage run by two minors in the middle of London, lives that didn't include the possibility having to sleep on the hard floor at night, lives that didn't include not knowing when their next meal would be. These kids had done nothing wrong, most were under the age of ten and were orphaned.
After they were awake, and eating the minimal amount of bread they were allowed, I had to say my goodbyes. Though it was only eight in the morning, I had to get to Kings Cross Station to catch the school train, the Hogwarts Express.
The children begged for me to stay, Emma being me of the hardest, but they knew I had to leave. I didn't want to leave, but if I wanted to make their lives better, I had to go. You see, I'm different than you; I am a witch. I go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the best school for witches and wizards.
By the time I got to Kings Cross, it was nine even. My stomach growled in hunger, but I had no money. Even if I did, I had to save it. The kids back at Agnes' Shelter for the Orphaned needed the money more than I did. I snuck into Platform 9 3/4, and sighed in relief. I was away from the hell of a summer I had, and was going back to a place I knew I was accepted. Though I was in Ravenclaw House, most of my friends were Gryffindors. I went into the bathroom at the Station, and used the sink to give myself somewhat of a shower; more of just scrubbing what people could see (my face, arms, etc.). I put my Ravenclaw uniform on, and pinned my Prefect badge, that I had received only two weeks ago, above my heart. I looked in the mirror, and put my very long hair into my standard bun.
Once I had made myself presentable enough, I walked back onto the platform, which was still deserted, and looked at the clock to see it was ten even. The train was just pulling into the station, and I stood for a moment to commit the experience to memory. The long, scarlet steam engine was pulling into the station, to bring me to one of the only places where I am truly happy. I hadn't seen this train since i left school for Christmas break last year.
I boarded the train, heading to one of the last compartments, and pulled out a book. I sat down closest to the window, so I could see when my friends were here, and read my book, Hogwarts: a History. Though I have read the book many times, I can never get enough, for I learn something new every time I read it.
At half past ten, a bunch of students started arriving, including four of my best friends: Lily Evans, Anastasia Vey, Olivia Vey, and Serenity Vey. The Vey sisters were triplets, born to a muggleborn father and a pure-blood mother. Lily Evans was a muggleborn herself, and very intelligent. Lily was in Gryffindor, along with Serenity. Anastasia was with me in Ravenclaw, and Olivia is in Hufflepuff.
Lily Evans, one of two of my absolute best friends, is a kind girl with fiery red hair, emerald green eyes, and a kind, welcoming smile. Don't let that fool you, however, she is very intelligent, and if you get on her bad side she will never forget. Anastasia Vey, the other absolute best friend, also has ginger hair but has mocha brown eyes. While Anastasia is bright, her real reason for being in Ravenclaw is her creativity and wonder. Olivia Vey has wavy, lightly curled, brown hair and hazel eyes that can read into your soul. Olivia is very kind spirited and is always willing to listen. Serenity Vey has straight black hair and bright blue eyes. Serenity is very brave, and never backs down from anything.
