My eyes sting from the hot fresh tears that run down my cheeks, my face raw and red. I was running and i wasn't sure why, something was pulling me and it was pulling me deeper and deeper. I raced along the forest floor, the trees zooming passed me. sobs escape me as i ran and ran, I had no idea where I'm going and all of a sudden I'm not me anymore. I shift for the first time.
For days before leading up to this moment i had been feeling rather strange. my teeth hurt, my fingers tingled and i had this sudden burst of energy that i had to release by running. But what set off my early transformation before the full moon? the reason....
my parents tell me they aren't my real parents.
.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.
Thirty minutes earlier
"Maddison." My father says while clearing his throat. He looked over with a mixture of sadness and a serious expression.
My mother was looking down at her plate, she barely ate any of it and I frowned at them both. What's going on? meanwhile my sister was silently eating and playing with her food. I smiled at her and offered to help her to which she nodded.
"Yeah dad?" I reply as I help her. "There we go." I gave her a smile.
"Me and you're...mother have something we have to tell you." He says slowly.
"Okay?" I frown in confusion and hand the fork to her.
"Me and your mother we have something to tell you....thats important" He shifted in his seat.
i frown, what was with him? he just repeated himself. i can hear the nervousness in his voice and for some strange reason I can hear his heartbeat. I've been hearing things better then a normal person ever since I was small and can run faster then anyone on the track team. the amount of offers I had from the team ranges from five to ten a day.
"okay? what about?" I ask in a questioning tone. "And you do realise you just repeated yourself." I raise an eyebrow.
"oh yes I did." My dad clears his throat, I watch as a bead of sweat roll down his brow. Don't ask me how I can, I just can.
What is with them? They act like it's the end of the world.
"There is no easy way in saying this but....Madds you're mother and I adopted you when you was only two years old." My father said gravely with sadness in his tone.
"What?" I drop my fork in shock. They adopted me? "What do you mean? How? I mean of course I know how but...." I ramble on. A defensive trait I picked up over the years.
My mother then looks up. "When you were younger, police officers found you wondering in the woods. They took you back to safety and into care. A few months later we came to visit to adopt and we spot you." My mother began to explain. "You caught our attention because of your feisty nature which matches your hair."
I stare at these now two strangers in disbelief, I can't believe this....me adopted!?
After that i got up and ran out of the house ignoring my 'parents.' Pleas and the cries from my... adopted sister Leah.
So here I am now, racing through the trees in my wolf form. My movements swift and fluid like I belonged. I was internally freaking out but somehow it all made sense. Why I could hear better then anyone, why I can run faster then anyone, why raw meat was more appealing then cooked meat. (Even tho I would eat it down to the bone.) I was a wolf.
And not just any wolf, I am a......
Wolfblood.
