1. What was your first introduction to LOTR?
My best friend begged me to read the books for years. Finally I started listening to her. It took the first chapter of The Hobbit to get me hooked.
2. Have you ever read the books?
I cannot live without the books.
3. Which version of the movies do you prefer, theatrical or extended?
EXTENDED FOR THE WIN! Tolkien's stories are so long and deep and detailed that mere three-hour movies cannot do them justice.
4. Who is your favorite character and why?
I have to say Aragorn. He is so quiet and determined and genuinely compassionate and brave and noble. 'Nuff said.
5. Which other books concerning Middle-earth have you read?
As of this moment, I have read all the major Middle-earth books once each. That includes The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, The Children of Hurin, and Unfinished Tales.
6. If there was something about the movies you could change, what would it be?
I would eliminate theatrical editions altogether. Ha.
7. What is your favorite scene in books or movies?
In the movies, I really like the Battle at Helm's Deep. So epic! In the books, I love Eowyn (I apologize for the lack of accent) slaying the Witch-King, and of course the climactic destruction of the Ring.
8. How would you rate your addiction to LOTR with Aragorn being the lowest and Smeagol/Gollum being the highest?
Hmm... maybe I'm Boromir. I want the precious but I wouldn't go schizophrenic over it. (P.S. Why is Aragorn the lowest? He's pretty passionate about stuff, in fact. The lowest should be Elrond or some other stoic character.)
9. If you could be any LOTR character, who would you be and why?
Um, Legolas. Sounds cliche, but if I could be that capable, I'd jump at the chance. Plus he gets to live in the Woodland Realm, which, spiders aside, is like my dream home. He's got an interesting personality too--really philosophical and considerate. So yeah, there's really not much contest here.
