Once upon a time, there was a little girl. She had her quirks of course, as does everyone. Like all but believing she was actually a little boy, and acting like one for the most part. And failing to out grow her Barney phase until just short of her double digits. But all in all she was a very happy little girl. She made friends easily wherever she went, which was good because she moved around a lot. She made good grades.She got in trouble too, including being kicked out of elementary school for putting an older boy in the hospital. Other than that nothing too bad. She was very close with her family and life was good. Until one day in middle school her current Guardians, her grandparents, get a call from the school saying they wanted to put her in a counseling group because she's been caught trying to kill herself. They made her sign a contract saying that she would never again attempt to harm herself or others, and her grandparents to this day have a signed laminated copy in their closet. However, little did they know that incident was neither the first nor the last. Then came the night when, after carving the shape of a heart into her skin with an earring, she returned to her assigned reading homework, and realized that books offer an escape from the reality the self inflicted pain was meant to be reminder of. Plus reading leaves behind less evidence. And so the world says goodbye to the seemingly happy, fun, open, and outgoing little girl it once knew, and watched helplessly as a more somber, shy, reserved, but equally 'happy' girl with the same face, very few friends, and her nose constantly wedged between the pages of something from her rapidly growing book collection,takes the little girls place...
