The cold rain slapped against the window, demanding constantly that it'd be let inside. The window refused, not budging an inch from it's frame. The rain and the window continued their lively battle against each other, ignoring the warm hand that touched the dry side of the window. A boy, near the age of 17, who was touching the window, groggily stared out at the midnight city scenery displayed before him. The window fogged up with living breath, disappearing, and appearing, and disappearing again. The boy was having that "rainy day mood" that everyone would have every so often.
That mood when he had not a single care in life, looking outside the dark world all alone, with *calming music playing softly in the background. That feeling when it's like he's in a world of his own without pain, without greed, and without discord. That desire to stay in that calming, drowsy atmosphere for as long as possible circled around him like fragile bubbles. That one glance at the city lights made him feel like a glowing marble of light in the middle of the horrifying darkness. He could swear that during that night, he could even feel soft pastel stars from the night sky giving brief kisses on his cheeks.
He glanced outside from his apartment which was high up in the sky, so high that it was always inside the clouds; getting cool hugs from it whenever he stepped outside to the balcony. This strange, short life was moving away from him too quickly, so why should he bother chasing after it? After all, he could just wait for the next, and simply catch a ride on that one.
Don't even let him get started on SOCIALIZING. That was way too hard for him to do. Well, actually, it was more like meeting other people, talking with others, or maybe even just looking at them. He couldn't explain it in words, but it just felt so awkward to him. So unnecessary. Why would he need friends when you can watch marathons of Star Wars, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, and other series by yourself? Well, his family would check in on him once or twice every four months but usually left him alone; which he asked him to do. He didn't want to concern anyone, but neither did he want to associate with anyone. He just wanted to be himself, by himself.
There was indeed, some random friends or strangers who would try to break down his introverted shell to make him a "huge part of society", but he instantly rejected them and snapped off all communication from them. They just didn't get him and he knew that they never will either. They were born entertainers and lovers, who were meant to do things like that. He just wasn't the same, and he wasn't going to let anyone force him to change.
Originality and independence were two key things in his life that he always held dear. They described him and him only. He never liked sharing ideas in grade school, he never liked group projects in middle school, and he also never liked having to read certain sections in textbooks loudly to the class during high school.
People just didn't understand that he was alone, but happy.
