It was a LONG time ago. Before you thought the bible went on a trend. The time where the man himself was going around spreading God's word. I was homeless and worst was at the time I didn't cared for a kid with no eyes. Yeah no eyes. And so our story begins with me way before I knew how to talk Greek or French it's been a while so I forgot.
I was in pain as I stared into the dark void that I thought was the world. Some souls would pass through stay in front of me which I thought they were looking at me. Then they would go away as I followed them with my head. I could hear words but didn't understand. I could feel the cold. The pain in my stomach and rest of my body.
I looked around to find a soul to help. None would. They would stand there. Floating and then slowly float away. Mocking me and making me feel alone. This went on for as long as I could remember.
One day when I thought I was close to dying a soul came up. I felt something on my shoulder then went to my arm and lifted me up. I followed it as it lead me through a forest of souls. Then it went quiet with no souls around. The ground got higher. Like a mountain. I heard words I didn't know so I just held on.
We stopped and I felt hands set me down kinda like stay here. So I waited as the soul moved around. I heard clanking and clashing then suddenly a scream. Then the soul came close and I felt a hand on my head and something go to where my eyes would be. I didn't know what was going on but then after the soul started speaking again. This time it was different from what I heard where I was before.
Before I knew it the world opened up. I saw color and the soul was in the center of this thing with red long hair, beautiful skin, and one red eye. The other was bleeding with bandages on it. I looked around and it looked cosy and homey. I smiled at the soul. She started speaking and I didn't understand but she gave me a hug and was crying.
As time went by I never left the souls side. She was happy. Taught me to speak a bit and a bit of what she does. She taught me her name which was Caroline. She worked as a medic a bit of magic as she said. She was always teaching me new things.
Soon a year pasted I knew how to talk and l knew a bit of magic. Caroline had made me her apprentice. I was happy we helped others and we lived what I thought was a normal life. "Grim grab the salt" Caroline said. "Sure thing" I said. My name was now Grim to a core.
I grabbed the salt and watched as she healed the man's wounds. "After this we will have dinner" she said. I smiled and just waited for her to finish. When she was done the man thanked her, paid her, and went on his way. I gave her a hug for a good job. I was half her height and was still growing. Her long red hair would always get in my face so she would always say I looked good with a mix of red hair and my hair which was black.
Before I knew it another couple years have passed. Not to many just enough to where I was an expert at magic. I healed those who came in. Caroline said I was even better then her. I was happy for once I was Givin a chance thanks to her.
"Hey Grim how's Caroline?" One of the shop keepers asked as I passed by. My red eyes glistened with glee as I said "fine as always thank you very much for caring" as I'd say with a smile every time I was asked. I ran past the shops as I came up the hill where we lived. "Sorry im late I had to grab some extra stuff" I said through the house. The fire cracked as I heard laughing. "its not a problem to be later then usual Grim"
I set the supplies down and ran twords her to give her a hug. "You did good Grim I'm proud" she pated my head. "I try to be like you" I said with a huge goofy smile.
I heard a knock on the door. "Caroline Hunter open up" a man said. She walked over to the door and opened it.
