*FLASHBACK*
POV ELIJAH (8 yrs old)
I woke to my mother screaming and begging my father.
I walked down the stairs from my room only to find my father beating my mother, like he usually did when he was drunk.
He didn't seem to notice her pleas. He took the lamp on the table beside the couch and slowly walked over to her, eyes as dark as night.
He lifted the lamp above his head and hit her across the head, she tried to get up again but my father kept hitting her over and over.
"MOMMY" I screamed as I ran towards her lifeless body and knelt down to rub the hair out of her face, tears running down my face. There was so much blood. She looked peaceful, like she finally found peace.
"Eli, you say a word and you will end up like your stupid mother. Do you hear me?" My father told me in a cold voice that sent shivers down my back.
I nodded my response because I didn't want to make him angry by talking.
*END OF FLASHBACK*
10 years later...
*BEEP BEEP BEEP*
Elijah rolls over and turns the alarm clock off, finally waking up from that nightmare again. Every night it's the same nightmare.
He gets up and walks to the bathroom and takes a cold shower. When I get out I walk to the sink to brush my teeth, looking in the mirror I see a scared boy.
I really miss you mom. I don't know what to do or how much longer I can do this. Please help me mom.
I close my eyes and turn away. I have to get ready for school, I do not have time to ponder and get stuck in my dark thoughts.
As I pull up at the school people stare but I don't care. Not one bit. Let them look, stare, and talk. It will not bother me. As soon as this year ends I can leave this dreaded town and that awful house I use to call a home.
Walking up the steps people part for me like the Red Sea, no one wants to get in my way.
I'm the new bad boy.
Pffft, yeah right Eli, like your the bad boy. You couldn't even save your mother. What does that make you?
(I don't think I'm that bad looking. With Gray eyes, black hair, and chizeled jaw. White t-shirt, Black leather jacket, dark jeans, and 2017 Nikes.)
I push the thought out of my mind, I kept walking to the principles office. As I round the corner I bump into something small. It didn't faze me but when I looked down I lost all train of thought.
