I remember this one night a few years back, I was 17 years old. I was home alone since my parents went on a date night. It was normal since they go on one every month. After a while I watched a few scary videos. They weren't that scary so decided to try turning off and reading some serial killer stories. They gave me goosebumps, then I turned on the TV. There was a news cast that stated their was a killer on the loose breaking into houses and killing the inhabitants. They said it was a few districts over, so I wasn't too worried. I decided to go to lock the doors and close all the windows just in case. After I made sure everything was okay I went to bed. It was around 11:34 when I fell asleep.
Around two hours passed when I woke to sound of something falling in the living room. I though it was my parents thinking my father was a bit drunk. I didn't get too worried cause its pretty common for this to happen on my parents date night. But then heard more noises coming from the kitchen and living. It seemed like someone was rooting through our stuff looking for something. That's when I got scared. So I decided to text my mom and see if it was her. "Hey mom are you and dad downstairs?"
"No we're on our way home right now. Why?"
"Cause I hear someone downstairs. I thought it was you and dad. What should I do!?"
"Call the police! And lock your door!" Just as I was about to dial 911 I heard the footsteps coming to the stairs. As quietly as I could I headed for my door to lock it. Luckily my floor was carpeted so it wasn't too hard. But my lock makes a clicking noise when locking. So as quietly as I could I locked my door. I went into my closet and dialed 911.
"Hello this 911 how may I assist you?"
"Hi my name is Kathy, I'm home alone and there's someone in my house." I said as quietly as I could whisper. I could hear him enter my parents room and I heard clashing of metal, like two knifes banging against each other.
"Okay Kathy I'll send a squadron on the way. What's your address?"
"It's North Turnpike house 4573. Hurry please his in my parents room and I think he has a weapon."
"Okay Kathy a squadron is on the way right now. Stay on the line and just hide." I was able to hear footsteps coming closer and closer. He was opening every door like he was looking for more than just valuables. I crept as far back into my closet and under as many as my clothes as I could.
"He seems to be coming closer to my room. He doesn't seem to just be looking for things to steal. Please hurry."
"Kathy don't worry the police is just around the corner and they'll be there soon. Just keep hiding a bit longer."
"Okay I'll try." He stopped moving and I couldn't hear him walking anymore. Then I heard the doorknob shaking. He started shaking harder and harder. I could tell her was getting made when he started banging the door. "Hurry please he's trying to get into my room."
"The police are just a few houses away. Calm down." Next thing I know I hear the door swing open. I couldn't myself but just scream. He realized where I was and opened the closet door and picked me up. I couldn't stop screaming. "Kathy! Kathy are you there? The police are right outside!"
"Put me down!" He was strong and I couldn't fight back. He threw me on my bed and pinned me down. He started kissing me and putting his hands down my legs. I tried to kick him, but I couldn't move my legs. I screamed as loud as I could.
Next thing I know the police are in my house coming up stairs. I kept trying to fight back, even though it seemed hopeless. He was too strong. Thank God the police came in my room and got him off. He then pulled out a knife and cut and stabbed one of the cops. Once he was free he got a gun and shot another. Three more police officers shot him several times that it seemed like their magazines would never run out of bullets. Once the shooting stopped I looked down at the body. It wasn't the serial killer on the news, but my next door neighbor. He was 19 years old, and lived with his grandma. He always seemed a bit odd.
