Chase

Big day

"Maddy! Ethan! Time to get up, you're going to be late for school!" aunt Rachel called from down stairs. Maddy sat up in bed tiredly, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. She stretched her arms before slipping out of bed and onto the carpet. Stumbling over to the door, she grabbed a towel and headed to the bathroom.  Maddy quickly rinsed off in the shower before going to blow dry her hair. Running a brush through her strawberry blond locks, she turned off the blow dryer and watched as it fell lightly around her shoulders and ended just above her waistline in very loose wavy curls. She stared at her freckled fase in the mirror. Her baby blue eyes meeting her reflection. Maddy juped a bit when she herd someone baning tierdly on the door.
"Maddy! Hurry up! I still need to shower you know!" Maddys brother Ethan yelled from outside the door.
"Okay, just give me a second!" she called back, quickly throwing on her robe and unlocking the door. She opened it to see her older brothers tired blue eyes, his dirty blond hair was a mess around his face, and he wasn't wearing a shirt. He only had on his gray sweatpants.
"Put on a shirt." Maddy yelled as she crossed the hall back to her room.
"And cover up all this?" he said with a smirk, gesturing to his broad shoulders and abs.
"All what?" she said with a snicker.
"Ha ha." he retorted sarcastically slamming the bathroom door behind him.
She closed her bedroom door and sat down on a stool in front of her little white vanity. It held all her makeup, perfumes, lotions, and hair supplies. She pulled out a black comb and finished parting her hair before pulling the top layer of hair into a ponytail, leaving the rest down. She then tied a small jade colored ribbon onto the ponytail. Maddy headed over to her dresser and pulled out a pair of tight black yoga pants, then she threw on a loose light blue shirt, a pair of gray converse, and a gray zip up jacket. She examined herself in the mirror, giving a small smile.
"Maddy! Ethan!  Breakfast!" called aunt Rachel
"Coming!" the siblings yield at the same time. Maddy grabbed her backpack of the desk chair before running out the door. She raced down the stairs, nearly tripping on the last step, and threw herself into the chair next to her brother at the table.
"Ok, since today is a big day for you two, I made..." There aunt paused as she grabbed a plate covered by a napkin of the counter and plaset it on the table in front of them, then ripped of the napkin for a dramatic game show effect, "Toaster made waffles!" She proclaimed with way too much enthusiasm. She put one on each of their plates before dumping syrup on top.
"Thanks aunt Rachel." they said in unison.
"You are very welkom. I do make a pretty meen waffle if I do say so myself." She said plafuly, her hands tuging at the sides of her color. BEP BEP BEP! And alarm sounded from aunt Rachel's watch.
"Oh, now i'm gonna be late." She said grabbing her keys and hand back of the cote, Rack she held up her phone, double checking the time.
"Ok, Im working a double shift tonight at the dinner so you two are on your own for homework, diner, etcetera. I will see you later!" She was halfway out the door before she yelled back to Maddy, "Oh, and Maddy, Do not forget to take your medicine!"
"Ok, Love you aunt Rachel!"
"Love you too! Bye!" she slammed the door and the two siblings could here her rush to her car, starting the engine a zooming of to another full day at work. Maddy was was almost halfway done with her waffle when she turned to her brother, he wolfed down the entire thing in seconds.
"Do you even chew?" Maddy asked, staring at his now empty plait. He just shrugged and hopped up from the table, clearing his plate, then he bounded up the stairs to finish getting ready. His hair was still wet and he was still in sweat pants.
"You better hurry Ethan, or we'll be late for our first day of sophomore year!" Maddy called
"Ya, ya! I'll be ready in time!" He called back, closing the door to the bathroom. Maddy and Ethan were fraternal twins, age sixteen. Of course Ethan was five minutes older than Maddy and took any chance he got to rub it in her face. They were both starting their sophomore year of high school. Maddy syed, stood up, and cleared her plait. She was ready to go anyway so she started unloading and reloading the dishwasher since it was her turn. Only moments later she hear her brother rush back into the room, backpack in hand.
"Ok, now i'm ready. Let's go." he said. Maddy nodded
They were just about to leave when she remembered something.
"Dangit! I forgot my book!" She yelled, rushing up the stairs and into her room.
"Hurry up Maddy! You're going to make us late!" Shouted Ethan. Maddy grabbed her book of the bed and was back down stairs in a matter of seconds. They rushed outside and Jumped in the car. Ethan in the driver's seat and Maddy in the passenger's seat. Ethan handed Maddy her lunch and she tucked it away with her book in her backpack. Maddy paused for a second, feeling slightly light headed, but she dismissed it once the feeling went away.
