*Flash Back*
"Eleven?! El?!" Mike cried out, tears in his eyes as he'd just witnessed the love of his life vanish leaving him behind.
"Mike.." Dustin says putting a hand on his shoulder. "She's gone man.." Lucas finished for him. Mike collapsed to the ground punching the floor to release his anger. "NO. SHE CANT BE GONE!"
8 months later
"And that class is how the nucleus works...Mr.Wheeler?" Mr. Clarke questioned
As he so often did, Mike stared blankly out the window waiting for the dreadful day to end. "Mr. Wheeler" He said again. Mike darted his attention towards the teacher, his eyes puffy as they seemed to always be. "Are you paying attention?" Mr. Clarke asked. Mike nodded and soon averted his attention back to the window until the bell rang.
"Okay class, dont forget the pop quiz next class." Mr. Clarke said as the students all stood and grabbed their bags.
Mike picked up his bag from the floor as all his books toppled from a hole at the bottom. "Shit" Mike muttered under his breath as he bent down to pick up his items.
"Mike.." a soft voice whispered
Mike quickly looked behind him. Nothing. He shook his head "you're losing it wheeler." He said as he shoved everything into the distressed bag and started for his locker down the hall.
"Mike!" Lucas called, the boys next to him as they caught up to him. "Hey guys" Mike says avoiding eye contact. "We're going to the arcade, wanna come with?" Will asked hopeful. Mike shoved everything in to his locker and threw away his now useless backpack. "I cant... i have stuff" He replied. "Stuff?" Lucas said sarcastically rotating his head. "You always have "stuff" man. Come on, we havent hung out as a group since - " he was cut off by Mike " Since El disappeared. Yeah. I have shit to do Lucas" He said slamming his locker. "Sorry" He said bluntly shoving Lucas out of the way with his shoulder and walking out of the school.
"We have to do something guys." Dustin said as the boys watched Mike leave. All in agreement the boys knew that in order to get Mike back, they needed to find El.
