We all know that the Montagues and Capulets were never good with each other , yet Romeo from the Capulets and Juliet from the Montagues were still seeing each other without the public knowing.
Because Juliet was still young when she started falling for Romeo, ever in her life, she has only been picturing her future with the latter. She couldn’t imagine what her future would be like without him, despite knowing that their relationship wasn’t legal.
Romeo, on the other hand, even though he loves Juliet, thinks partly otherwise. He is the type of person who goes with what comes into his life because he believes that what’s meant to happen will happen. Don’t get hin wrong—He can fight for Juliet as much as he wants, but if it results to definitely no good anymore, it would be better to let go and be open for more opportunities in life. Romeo is older than Juliet, which may be the reason why he thinks more maturely. Though, he thinks that he is still young and there are still many chances for success waiting for him in his life.
One night they talked about marriage and letting their families know someday, and they were both cool with it. They have agreed on consulting to the Friar even before telling their parents, so that they couldn’t do anything about it. Opposing their expectations, their parents knew beforehand and agreed to break them apart. Hilarious how they couldn’t agree with each other on everything except for a way on how to separate their son and daughter from each other, who were just like the normal people who has the rights to fall in love.
The Montagues hired guards to assure that Juliet won’t be seeing Romeo secretly anymore, and sure, she didn’t because she can’t. The guards were following her literally almost everywhere, which made her feel worse than a prisoner. She is being followed even in her own house and the people that she could see first thing in the morning were her guards. She thought about giving up, but she decided to hold on to her’s and Romeo’s promises about marriage.
Meanwhile, Romeo was arranged to marry someone else—Athena, a daughter of one of his parents’ friends. Athena was younger than him and simply beautiful just like Juliet.
Juliet, despite being nearly isolated, have heard of the news and was severely hurt. She started locking herself up in her room, cried and cried, skipped meals and thought of killing herself. She believed that her life is now useless without her and Romeo being married. How could her life be worse? Her own parents won’t let her be free anymore just because she fell in love. One night, loneliness and depression were internally killing her simultaneously, that she couldn’t take her anymore. Even crying for a whole day won’t help her recover even just a little. She found the drink that would make her sleep forever and drank it without any second thoughts.
The people in Verona was talking about one of the town’s youngest, most beautiful inheritors, that the news have reached Romeo immediately. He still can’t forget Juliet and was deeply affected by her suicide as well. Who wouldn’t be, if you know that the reason was you? He felt a little sorry for letting her go, but he knew that she would suffer more if he didn’t. He begged Juliet’s parents to let him see her for the last time, and they did let him do so. He was talking to the lifeless Juliet on his mind and didn’t even notice that tears were falling down from his eyes. With one, last, soft kiss on her forehead, he left with heavy steps.
It was years after he recovered. Being the mature man that he is, he focused on leading and ruling. He has also taken advantages of what he has, including Athena. He tried falling for her, and sure he did. She wasn’t hard to love, anyways. She reminds him of Juliet all the time, but he didn’t really fall for her because of that reason. Athena was matured enough to always understand him and never left his side even during the times when he was in pain because of Juliet’s death. Athena has always shown his love for him. In the end, Romeo has lived a peaceful life with Athena and their children, but was still talking to Juliet every night whenever he misses her.
