Chapter 7
“Are you serious?” I asked once I’d recovered from the shock. I’m not the only hybrid in the world. I’m not a complete freak, there’s someone sat on my sofa who understands what it’s like to be like me, because he’s the same.
“Yes.” Zane replied. “We’ll leave you two to talk.” He said and stood, my other brothers left the room, and then he walked out smiling at me.
“When were you changed?” I asked curiously.
“Around 1619” He shrugged. “I was kidnapped when I was young, and one of the people there ran experiments. None of them succeeded until me.”
“What about your family? Did you go back to them?” I asked, I’d moved to sit next to him. I’d never been this curious about anything ever before.
“No… After they changed me I broke out. I killed everyone there, but let the other victims go… Well the ones who hadn’t been experimented on. Some of the others asked me to kill them.” He shuddered at the memory.
“Your brother, Zane, told me what happened to you. It must’ve hurt that your father did that to you.” He said sympathetically.
I shrugged. “What type of demon are you?” I asked changing the subject.
“Hell raiser, like Zane. How about you? Your brothers refused to tell me.”
“I’m a midnight moon demon. So is Jodie.” I smiled at him.
“Nice, you’re part witch, right?” He asked.
“Yeah, are you?”
“Yeah, what do you specialise in?” He asked curious himself.
“A bit of everything really. But I rely mostly on my strength and speed. I only use magic when necessary.” I explained. “And you?”
“A bit of everything too. You turn to knowledge when you’re immortal and bored.” He smirked.
“True… What can you shift into?” I asked.
“Any animal I wish, you? I’m guessing since you’re older than I am and have a shifter brother, you can too.” He guessed.
“You’re right there. So now that we know of each other’s abilities, why not tell me where you’ve been?” I asked.
He chuckled. “I’ve been everywhere really. I only came to this town because a friend of mine told me of you. It turns out we have a friend in common.”
“And who’d that be?”
“Melisa, she’s actually one of the slaves I freed when I escaped. We keep in touch. She used to be my only ally.” He smiled at me.
“Used to be?” I asked sarcastically.
“Well, yes. Now I believe I can trust you, and your brothers.” He said confidently.
“And why do you trust us so easily?”
“Because, we’re the same, we understand each other. And that’s enough to earn my trust.” He smiled at me. “Well that and the fact that you won’t be telling anyone what I am.”
“And here I was thinking it was because you think I’m hot.” I winked.
He laughed. “That too.” He winked.
I felt a blush on my cheeks but smiled at him anyway. We carried on telling each other about where we’ve been, what we’ve seen… We carried on talking until the early hours of the morning. When I finally looked at the clock, I was shocked.
