The Vampire Hunter (ENG)

Prologue

*First I would love to thank you for reading my story and also to apologize because English is not my first language and there will be some grammar mistakes*

I have been walking for four hours through the Narrow woods. Now I understand how it got its name. After the first three kilometers there are no paths for me to use. I have nothing remained but to climb the slippery and moss overgrown rocks. I went two-thirds of the mountain named The Forbidden Peaks, and there is no sign of my "job". Let's not pretend that you do not know what I'm talking about. Someone has to protect the „daughters and sons of men". My mission is simple, find the vampire and kill it . The days when vampires live far from the public eye, hiding in the shadows and attacking for food are long gone. For months now, they have been living among us, walking like us, talking like us, acting like us. It's been months that they have left the walls of Evuviel kingdom.

We, the vampire hunters, who are familiar with their existence from birth, knew this would happen, that their behavior will not be able to predict. Vampires are predators after all.Predators and born killers. Lucky for you, so are we!

The vampire hunters are not ordinary people! There is a different blood running through our veins.We are faster are stronger, moreresourceful , more cunning and intelligent. Unfortunately,we are just as easy to kill as normal people. Even as children we are taught martial arts, fencing and shooting. We go through a rigorous training from the age of five. Each of us erns its place in the clan only when spent hundreds of liters of sweat, hundreds of liters of blood and shred hundreds of liters of tears. At the age of fifteen we are able to look for our first prey, "degraded" vampire.

You see, vampires are divided into two groups; nobles and bitten ones. The nobles have no need of killing for food. They feed on each other. They do not want to mix their blood with the blood of the bitten vampires or ordinary people. They can also walk in the sunlight and are much more stronger and faster, depending on the „strength" of their noble blood.Only they can create new vampires or even have children. On the other hand, we have a vampire with a limited period of life. Those are the bitten. They are much slower and weaker. They are, what we haunters call them, "B-class". Over time, they begin to weaken and their bodys start falling apart. Their desire for blood becomes stronger and they soon lose control over their body or „degrade". Hunters offten hunt alone, but this time, because of the distance of our "job" I have company.

>> Jo?<<, I ask, breathing heavily.

>> What is it?. << Jo asks as short as possible, trying to save some air.

>> We are not lost, right? We have walked for hours but there is no vampire in sight. << I tell him after I took a few sips of water from my backpack.

>> No we're not.They sent us to the coordinates right in front of us. You should see the cabin which they are hiding in any time. << Jo says taking a bottle of water from me.

Our task this time is a little bit more interesting then usually. A small group of seven degraded vampires are hiding in the cabin near the city of Lakewood and are attacking it's residents when it gets dark. The terror lasts for four nights now and they have killed twenty-three people. Degraded may not be as strong, but they are very dangerous.

Jo's climbing is perfect ever since we were "trainees". His small hight and slim figure are a great help breaking through the branches. We started training together and did our their first job together. No one knows me like him.We grow up together. Hatred for bloodsuckers, is for us hunters "God-given", but we had more than genetics affecting on ours. When we were around four years old, vampire came to our village, Bordona, to kill every hunter who participated in the killing of his wife. The vampire was a nobleman, and his wife degraded and lost her mind. As a bitten vampire she could not fulfill her dream of giving her husband a child, so after degrading she attacked Spring Garden Nursery and killed two girls.Back then the world was not familiar with vampires so vampire hunters, together with other vampire nobles decided to cover up the murders in exchange for vampire's head. It all took place as planned, but her husband came shortly after for revenge. He killed two hunters who participated in the murder of his wife, but that was not enough. He killed their wives and whole family, leaving only one child to live, hope it will awaken revenge in us. He was right. Jo and I are eager for revenge, which we will never get. The vampire was soon executed by the other nobles because he completely lost his mind. He lost his wife and his mind, and Jo and I lost our parents and Jo's older brother, Gill.

>> We're here. << Jo says quietly.

We know they can hear us, but because the sun is still out they must stay inside. We both slowly pull out our sword and keep on watching a cabin. There is a rising smoke behing it.

>> Someone had lit a fire? <<,I ask Jo,looking all puzzled.

>> I don't know. << Jo says,still watching an old cabin.

Soon, a man walks out of a cabin,physical visibly stronger than us. He dragges a vampire in the sun, holding it by his neck. The vampire begans to scream and slowly burn. Jo and I move to the side to see what is going on behind a cabin. The fire is still burning, and on the edge of it there are parts of the vampires bodys.

>> Who is he? << asks Jo.

At that point the man turnes to us. It is evident that he is noble and of „strong" blood. He ignores us pretended not to see us and threw the body in to the fire.By his behavior it is obvious that we are not taken seriously. He takes few slow steps towards the edge of the cliff and jumps. He disappeares without a trace. Jo and I are left confused.

>> We have to inform fra Luca and the other chiefs about this. << says Jo.

>> Yes. << I say, still staring at the fire.

Perhaps the nobles finally started „the cleaning".
