[Midnight, July 4th, XXXX]
A group of people stood, sat, or lay, on a hill fairly close to the town and the mountain. It was midnight, all the stars were out, and the fireworks were still going off. Although the fireworks were still going off, a lone boy sat off to the side, alone. Hoshi Takahashi. He wasn't much for big crowds or fireworks, anyways, so he just sat and watched the stars, sometimes looking at all the pretty colours that erupted when a firework spiralled into the sky.

The 'star' fell on the hill where hundreds of people had been sitting hours before. Hoshi watched from his window as it touched the hill and--
"That's not a star."
