As soon as the bell rang, John was out of there. A few months ago, his family decided to leave his old house and move across the state. John had begged and pleaded, but to his dismay, his parents didn't give in. It was all because of his stupid dad getting a stupid job at that stupid tech company. He also hated his new school with a burning passion. It was a private school, and only had about 300 people. Because of this, almost all of his classes were mixed grade level, with even some younger kids mixed in. John was a freshman, but he didn't feel like it. All of the other freshman were immature and were always in some kind of trouble. John had always been different. While the other kids were out doing drugs and drinking, he had stayed inside, playing his favorite game on his phone. As he was leaving his health class, he walked past Chloe, a foreign exchange student from England. She was very shy, but was always drawing amazing pictures. She was a senior, but health was a required class, so most people waited to take it senior year. As John walked by, he peered over her shoulder, and saw her drawing an amazing picture of what was starting to look like a mug. He was just about to say something to her about how good it was when someone someone ran into him from behind, almost knocking him over.

"Get out of my way loser," said the stranger, accompanied by snickers from his friends. It was Henry, the school's baddest bully.

"I-I'm sorry," mutter John. He backed away and started running away. Away from Henry, away from school, away from everyone. He just wanted to be alone. He ran past the middle school section of the school, and saw one of the other trumpet players in band at school. Her name was Noorie. Or at least that's what everybody called her, because no one knew her real name, not even the teachers. He caught her gaze and flashed her a quick smile and ran on. He passed the student council room, where he saw Robert. Everyone at the school knew of him. He was the nicest person at the school, and this got him elected president. Robert had been nothing but kind to John since he arrived. John ran on and eventually got outside where he slowed down out of breath. He walked past a group of friends, and was startled when they burst into laughter. The cause of this laughter was the class clown, Rashaun. John had never been too fond of class clowns, so he and Rashaun didn't get along all the time. John walked on.

15 minutes later, he got home. The first thing he did was go to his room and change out of his school uniform. Then he pulled out his phone and texted his friends for awhile and then went to hop on his favorite app-QuizUp. It was a trivia game, but it was more like social media to John. He had met lots of people on it. He even knew that Noorie played it too. He hopped on and was stalking his friends when an ad popped up. This was pretty common, so he waited for the X to pop up in the corner. But it never came. The ad said "You have been selected for Awakening. Please click here." John knew it was a scam, but no matter what he did with his phone, he could get rid of it. So he did the only thing left. He clicked it. FLASH! The screen flashed white and then a weird emblem that looked like a misshapen hourglass appeared and then went away. Nothing had happened, so he went back to what he was doing. He payed it no mind, and eventually he went to sleep, feeling like usual. But little did he know, his life would never be the same
