"Wren! Come downstairs sweetie, there's someone who wants to talk to you!"

"Coming Mum!"

'Who could it possibly be? It's not like I have any friends. Oh, maybe it's aunty Marley. I haven't heard from her in a long time, though. Still what could she want?' I think rapidly to myself as I rush down the smooth wooden stairs. I make it to the bottom with little to no difficulty which is surprising considering how clumsy I usually am.

I see a fairly tall woman standing in the doorway talking to my mom with a very stern voice. She is dressed in black robes that look kind of weird.

"Oh good, you're here. Honey, this is Professor McGonagall. She's a teacher for, umm... sorry where is it you were saying you teach?" My mom asks looking back at the mystery woman.

"Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry," she answers calmly.

'Wait did she just say witchcraft and wizardry?! There is no such thing! Right?? There can't be.'

"Oh, right." My mother says nonchalantly.

"How do I know this isn't a joke? You could just be some crazy old lady!" I say glaring at the woman standing in the doorway. She walks into the house, closes the door, and pulls out a stick. I stare at her with my mouth twitching as I try not to laugh. Now I know she's crazy.

"What is that?" I ask trying to hold back my giggles. "Is that the stick that you witches use to cast spells?"

I stand there waiting for a response but instead I am lifted off the ground by an unknown force. I look at mum with a horrified expression. 'Aw, hell. This is what I get for making fun of crazy old ladies with sticks.' She looks at me with the same face and I am set back down.

"Okay, I believe you." I say quickly as a frown enters my face. She then hands me a letter addressed to my name that has a strange crest on it. She gives me a few seconds to look over the letter before she begins to explain what Hogwarts is like and what a wonderful life I will live if I am to go. It was a lot to take in at once but in the end I decide that I want to go and my mother approves. After all, it might be a chance to a fresh start where no one will know what happened at my old school.. McGonagall says she will be back in three days time to take me to get my school supplies.

It's been three days since Professor McGonagall came and told me of Hogwarts and I could hardly sleep at all. I'm waiting in the kitchen eating cereal and McGonagall appears out of thin air in front of me. My bowl goes flying and I'm instantly drenched in milk and cinnamon toast crunch.

"So sorry dear," she says apologetically and waves her wand and I become dry.

"Oh, Professor McGonagall! I wasn't expecting you for a bit longer," my mum says surprised as she walks into the kitchen.

"Oh yes, just thought Wren and I could get a head start on shopping. We still need to get her money from the bank," McGonagall says in a soft voice.

"Very well, Wrennie go up stairs and get a coat it is quite chilly." she says as she walks over to start a conversation with Professor McGonagall.

"Okay, stai attento (translation:be careful. (italian)) wren." My mum says as we get ready to leave.

"Ovviamente (of course)." I respond as I hug her and she kisses my head. I run over and take hold of McGonagall's hand. Suddenly everything around me becomes blurry and I get the feeling of not being able to breathe. Just as fast as the feeling came it is gone and we are standing in the middle of a busy street. There are people everywhere wandering through stores, meandering the walkways and runaway children from their parents who follow close behind. It looks absolutely amazing.

"Welcome to Diagon Alley where we will get all your school supplies and robes for your first year at Hogwarts. First stop is Gringotts bank." McGonagall says swiftly and we start walking towards a building that has a sign by the door bearing the words.

"Enter, stranger, but take heed

Of what awaits the sin of greed,

For those who take, but do not earn,

Must pay most dearly in their turn.

So if you seek beneath our floors

A treasure that was never yours,

Thief, you have been warned, beware

Of finding more than treasure there."

'Well that's not frightening...' I walk with McGonagall towards a goblin with long nails and let her speak.

"We need to make an exchange of muggle money for wizard money." She states. The goblin takes the money and gives us a variety of coins. We walk out after the exchange.

"Now where are we going Professor?' I ask looking up at McGonagall.

"Well now we need your wand so we are heading to Ollivanders."

I have tried at least 10 different wands which have all ended up in disaster, one of them when I waved it turned on me and it started to pour rain on me. While all of this chaos was happening McGonagall has gone somewhere without telling me and I was left by myself with Mr. Ollivander, not that I mind he is quite an interesting man.

"Aha! I've got it. Silver lime, Wampus cat hair core, 12.5 inches, should do the trick." He hands me the wand and it looks absolutely beautiful. It is a white colored wand with intricate swirls and dents in the wood. I give it wave and a golden light is bestowed upon me.

Professor McGonagall walks in right as I'm paying for the wand and I notice that she has a cage in her hand. I take a closer look and see a small kitten curled up in a ball at the bottom. He is brown and white with little black lines in the brown spots and is extremely adorable.

"Oh good you found a wand, I took it upon myself to get you a pet for Hogwarts. You can him name whatever you like." she hands me the cage and I gingerly grab the kitten from its little bed inside the cage.

"Can I name him PK?" it just feels right.

"Of course he is yours after all." She replied smiling as I hug the little kitten to me.

McGonagall and I were currently getting lunch as we have gotten my robes, cauldron, books, and other supplies. She had recommended me books upon discovering my love for reading and she bought me a copy of 'The tales of Beedle and Bard'. I look out the window and see a family of red headed children and notice two twins who seem to be about a year or two older than me. 'They're kind of cute' I silently think to myself but they suddenly are lost in the crowd outside the window.

"Thanks for everything, Professor." I say and quickly hug her taking her by surprise.

"Oh, you're very welcome my dear." she says and slightly hugs me back. She then gives me a ticket for Kingscross Station that says Platform 9 ¾ I'm slightly confused but she is already gone. I shrug my shoulders and go in the house to tell my mother of my adventures today.
