"Once apon a time, in a place far away from here, there was a land that had candles dotting the landscape. Everyone had a candle, yet no one knew where they came from orwho had created them. All they got with the candle was a note that states 'do not leave the candles on all the time or they will dissapear and i wont make you another one if this one dissapears.' However, no one heeded thease warnings and left the candles on day and night. For you see, candles did alot more then just shed light in the darkness and pretected them from those creatures that lurk there, they also produced scents in this scentless world and were more beautiful then jems, they even told you what time it was as well as the date! So, of corse everyone is going to start freaking out when the candles start disapearing. It started with children's candles. Them being so small, they expected that children just lost them somewhere. But people started worrying when bigger candles started dissapearing, and soon, people started blaming eachother for their candles dissapearing. And one day, the fighting finaly stoped when the last candle anyone knew of, a candle owned by a poor old man, dissapeared. Everyone had saddened, the last bit of their pride and joy gone..... Or so they thought...! Off in a cave on a mountain side not that far away from the borders of this land, was a creature by the name of Truely Misfortunate." A woman started, reading the story to her only child, when a man she knew as her husband walked in and started trying to rush the woman out of the room. "Honey, its time for bed!" The man eagerly stated, pulling the woman out of the room before giving there daughter a quick 'goodnight' before shutting the door.
The man angryly looked at his wife and said in a low grumble, "We promised eachother we wouldnt read her that story!!"
"But honey...." The woman started, "I miss him...."
"Josephene.... You know its impossible to bring him back......" The man stated abit sadly to the woman he knew as his wife, Josephene, as he knew what she was going to try to do.
Josephene, now being forced to face reality, slowly looked towards the ground in sadness and defeat, and started crying. Her husband, Leo, hugged her gently, comforting her as best he could.
As they went tk their room, their daughter, lyra, who was left with the book, got curious and wanted to read more of the story. She started reading, her voice not as fluent as her mothers.
