I am not who you think I am.
I refuse to be limited by your opinion.
I resist the restraint of your limited thinking.
Your ideals and standards only benefit you.
They say eyes are the window to a person's soul,
But I've searched yours,
and haven't found a fragment.
I will not be set back by your thoughtless thoughts,
Your unrighteous judgements.
I am not limited to a letter grade,
A final score,
Or test results.
I am more than a struggling student,
a struggling teen,
a struggling daughter.
I strive to think outside the box,
But tend to be limited to yours.
I am more than a statistic.
I am not a number.
I am human,
and everything exclusive to being so.
I am a triumphant heart,
An inquisitive mind.
I am darker than the longest night,
I am the stars,
the sun,
the spiraling,
bleak universe.
I am a world of my own,
You can swim through the ocean in my eyes,
Explore the biomes of my soul.
I am millions of years of evolution,
Nations fall and rise to the rhythm of my chest.
Do not make the mistake
Of trying to put my heart,
My mind,
My soul,
My being,
Into a box.
You have created a vessel
that cannot possibly contain
The infinite value
and worth of a human soul.
I am more than the human mind
could comprehend in an infinite lifetime.
And I deserve appreciation,
Because I am more than you think I am.
