The moon gleamed through the leaves of trees, and the wind blew lightly threw the forest, and threw Seth's pelt. Seth wasn't much for patrolling, and he definitely wasn't much for doing it with Chase, but it wasn't like he had a choice. Orders were orders... He sighed and continued to pad along the edge of his pack's territory. Chase bounded happily behind him, her tail bouncing up and down and her yellow eyes sparkled with excitement. She hadn't been on a patrol in god knows how long, all she knew was she was always chosen last for things. It's not that she wasn't cut out to do anything, she was just, different.... No body liked her, not even the omega. But she knew that that wasn't the only reason she was hated. Her mother, Laika, was an outsider and didn't have pack blood. Guess the pack didn't like that.
Outsiders usually weren't accepted, and the pack made it obvious when Laika didn't come back one day on a hunting trip. "She slipped and fell into the canyon." One of the wolves said when they returned back to camp. "We couldn't retrieve the body... It was too steep. We're sorry." Chase never believed that. She knew her mother died with the fangs of a pack member deep in her neck. Not from falling into some canyon. But Chase never tried to say anything, afraid that she too would meet the same fate as her mother did. She continued to walk alongside Seth, and tried her best to keep his pace, which was hard to do since she was so much smaller than him. "So what are we looking for again?" She asked as she quickly moved out of the way of Seth's tail that was lashing back and forth. He was obviously irritated that she had broke the silence.
Seth sighed. "Anything out of place." Chase just nodded, she didn't want to annoy Seth anymore then she already had. She looked down at her paws. She never wanted to be disliked by anyone... Though she was. "Hey Seth?" She said quietly. Seth stopped, "What." Chase flinched. She was half expecting him to snap at her, or claw her, and tell her to keep her muzzle shut. Her ears folded back, and she looked to the side. "Why... Why do you hate me?"
