"If a clock could count down to the time when you met your soulmate, would you want to know?"

SETH P.O.V

I groaned, hearing the annoying squeals my alarm clock produced. Slamming a tired hand on the snooze button, I sat up. As I stretched, I glanced at my wrist.

2w, 3d, 8h, 5m, 46s.

I smiled. Another day closer to the big one.  I sometimes found myself lost in thought about who my soulmate would be, or what they would be like or look like. I found the whole soulmate-clock-counter subject very interesting, unlike some people. My friend, Jake, found the entire situation awkward and a waste of time. He was never very happy.. I wonder why. Maybe something always just came along and ruined his day.. I hope nothing ruins it today. Maybe I should mention, Jake and I have only spoken on Skype and texted. We never have officially met, considering he lives a few states away from me. I wish one day we could meet, he seems very pleasant when he isn't grouching. One day, I actually mailed him stickers.. They make me happy!

( Do I need to mention that Seth is an adorable ray of sunshine? )

The alarm switches out of snooze mode again and begins squealing once more. I look at it.. wait. It's Saturday.. Why is my alarm even set? I giggle, turning it off and switching on my phone.

 (Jake) Missed call. (3)

(Jake) SETH
(Jake) ARE YOU EVEN AWAKE
(Jake) SETH PLEASE
(Jake) FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST I'M BORED AND I MISS YOU

Well.. This is certainly new. I hope Jake is alright..

I decide to give him a call.

After the first two rings, he picks up. His voice is quiet, and he sounded like he had just been.. crying?

".. Jake? Hi!" I chirped.

".. Where were you..?" The cool, alluring voice of his mumbled out. That alone was enough to give me butterflies.

"I slept in on accident.. Sorry I missed your calls and texts, I must've slept through them."

"Don't ever sleep in again. You nearly gave me a fucking heart attack, Seth." He sounded irritated. I flinched. He never swore at me.. did I mess up that bad?

"... O-Okay.." I stammered. I was still a little shaken up for his sudden language.

"I'm sorry for swearing, Seth.. But I'm being serious. I thought something bad happened.. I thought you died, Seth. I legitimately did.."
