I partly lay my head against the window as the car sped through the streets of my new hometown.
It was actually beautiful. Besides the intense humidity further from the sea and the rusty streets filled with opportunistic street men and women mixed with a collage of rich men and women who walked through every fancy store facing each other.

I had always been one to get something in return for every little favor I did for my father. Mother didn't like that about me, or my relationship with him.
But somehow, it fulfilled me.

My father was an insanely rich and spoilt man who had spent most of his years misusing his riches and that's why we were here now.
But while he put himself to ruin, I put myself to opportunity. I knew that every little action for him, would somehow reward me.
I was more concerned about getting my accounts full with my hard earned money, rather than from daddy's bank card.

I only realised now that we were driving through big metallic gates with a large sign on top of them that said "Vinellis". I suppose it was their way of greeting their guests.

As the car went through the driveway, either side was filled with beautiful green trees, flowers of all sorts, and lawn that covered the rest of the ground.
I could see birds of sorts, and horses feeling intensly comfortable like that part of the land was their very own.
It was massive. And beautiful too.

By the time the five minute drive was up, I was looking ahead to a beautiful 90s set mansion. But before I could really take in my view, my eyes were distracted by the two men and woman that were standing outside the door and the car stopped.
My eyes flickered between them and the house constantly until I felt my door opened for me to step out of the car.

I stepped out, realising I was feeling really jetlagged from my flight.

Before I could take in my current physical position, Mr Vinellis stepped towards me.

"Our beautiful Reena. The newest wife of this household. You're welcome." He grabbed my hand and kissed the back of it slowly.

He then turned to the man behind him and said to me, "Meet your husband, Vincent Vinellis."

My smile faded.

I always thought I was going to marry Vinellis senior. But now I was facing my new husband, his son.
