This is how my life change...

I was without a care in the world until I opened the letter. I read the first couple of sentences and struggled to read the rest. Everything on the page became as blurry as the sky on a foggy winters day. My tears welled up and rushed down my cheeks, dropping into my mouth giving me that salty sea water taste. Uncontrollably, I started crying. I felt as though all my emotions were in the tears being shed; I held my breath to keep quiet, struggling to believe what I was reading. Although it was expected - I was so gutted. The oppressive pain in my heart was too much to bear.

I couldn't possibly comprehend what was going on, 'how could this possibly be true?' I asked myself as I laid down in my bed, starring at the patterned ceiling. That is the last thing I or anyone else would like to hear. Suddenly, I remembered when the doctor said it was a possibility. I assumed the chances were hardly any hence why I didn't worry about it.

Hours, days, weeks went by yet no one knew why I was so pale. So different than normal. Lasting a whole day without food became a habit. Going out became something unusual. My life consisted of locking myself in my bedroom and expressing myself by writing diaries, poems and stories. Surprisingly, that helped me keep my mind off everything for a temporary measure. While I was writing a new diary log, I heard the sound of sharp high heels against the wood floor coming up the stairs- it was my mother.

"Amelia" she yelled while making her way up the stairs.
"Yes mum" I responded, uninterested, knowing she found a club for me to join. My mother hates it when I don't go out. She really worries as she thinks I will be depressed.
She opened my bedroom door, "I found a great tennis club you could join, you love playing tennis and it's also a great way of meeting new people'' she said in an excited tone.
"Not anymore" I signed " but maybe I will give it a try" knowing it will put a smile on her face...
