I was flying through the air as fast as I could. My side was bleeding badly from the big gash that Moses gave me with his sword.

The chilling snow was hitting my face so hard it felt like small needles piercing into my skin.

I could see my breath in the air while my wings started to freeze over. I could still hear the angel hunters behind me but my vision started to blur. I heard a cracking sound come from my wings; I know if I didn't land soon and retract my wings, they would break and I would be caught before they healed.

I frantically looked around and spotted a forest full of trees just a short distance away. Before I could even think about landing there, there was a bang and a sharp pain erupted in my right shoulder.

I fell out of the sky and hit the snowy ground with a loud and painful thud. I could hear the crunch of snow under the feet of the hunters as they got closer to my crippled body. I tried to move but I was bleeding out and I couldn't feel anything anymore.

My wings vanished as they always do when I'm in my human form.

Someone grabbed me by the neck and lifted me off the ground. Moses' face was so close to mine that I could feel his hot breath fan my face. He had slate gray eyes with hints of blue mixed in, his dark brown hair that almost looked black, was in a braid falling limp down his back.

He looked up at me with disgust in his eyes. "You think you can run from us," he asked but I didn't answer. His hold on my neck tightened. "You are nothing! You don't matter," he said with a smug grin.

"Ha! If I am nothing, then why are you hunting me?" I croaked at him. He tightened his hold on my neck and I gasped for air but got none.

"Don't you speak back to me! I could end you right now," he growled out.

I smiled at him tauntingly, "Then do it. I dare you!" I tried to sound intimidating but my voice came out raspy and squeaked at the end. He gripped my throat so hard black spots started dancing across my eyes.

Moses brought his lips close to my ear. "You know what you're feeling right now? Not being able to breath, the pain you feel, the hopelessness of this situation; I want you to feel twice that pain, I want to watch you slowly die in pain. I want to hear you cry out in pain and beg me to stop. So I won't kill you right now, I will make you wish I had killed you."

I try to hold back the tears from escaping but I couldn't, the dam had broken and they streamed down my face. Moses looked at me with a savage grin.

"Ha! You might as well start begging for your life now." Right as he said that, he was thrown off of me. I hit the ground hard for the second time that day and started to black out. But before I did, I heard a scream from Moses and saw dark green eyes looking over me.

Then everything went black.

I'm thinking about starting this story up again but I'm not sure so I'm going to just post the first chapter of the book and see if anyone wants to read more of it. :]
