A blood curdling scream left my mouth as I was dropped by the mysterious shadow the moment we entered a weird portal. It had suddenly opened the moment the shadow threw a bunch of glass-like looking beans in the grass of a park nearby my house. Despite my futile efforts to free myself of its grasp, it managed to throw me into the portal that it had opened. The last thing I remember seeing was a yellow surface. The moment my body went through the portal however, gravity got ahold of my body and instead of standing on the surface of the earth vertically, I found myself falling horizontally.

My eyes closed tightly as I waited for a hard impact to not only break my fall, but also my back for sure. However, I landed on something softer instead. I lay still, refusing to open my eyes in fear of finding myself in some sort of heaven or purgatory. Eventually, I dared to open one eye, the other one following shortly after. I took in my surroundings in shock.
I was on a beach with a bright blue ocean stretching on my left side and a green forest towering over me on my right. The sound of waves crashing onto the shore was the only sound that echoed in my ears and I had to squint my eyes in order to look further because of the burning sun.

Am I in the Caribbean or something? How can it be day? And how could that shadow have brought me here through a portal?

The shadow.

I looked up and around me, however, there was no sign of the mysterious looking creature that brought me here against my will.

"You've got to be kidding me." I breathed out, standing up and brushing the sand off of my jeans.

"Come back here you stupid thing! Bring me back home!" I shouted into the air, but no answer or weird looking shadow appeared anywhere.

Grunting, I brushed off some more sand that had clung onto my clothes and hair. How could this have happened? And most importantly, where the hell am I?

"Well well well, look what we have here boys. It's a girl!" A voice suddenly spoke up from behind me, making me jump and turn around to face three tall figures that were standing a few feet away from me.

All three were boys, looking to be around my age. One stood out to me the most. He had dirty blonde hair and light green eyes with a big scar decorating his face. His body was slim, yet tall as he towered over me smirking.

"Wh-Who are you?" I stammered.

"Who are you? How did you come here? No girls are allowed to come onto this island." The boy with the scar answered, ignoring my question.

"I asked you a question first." I sneered.

The other two boys snickered, clearly amused at my failed attempt to look tough even though I was clearly intimidated by them.

"Oi Felix, perhaps we should let you know who confront her. I think that would be even more amusing." One of them said to the boy with the scar.

Felix' smirk grew even wider and his eye lit up, signaling to me that I had to get away from their company as they clearly were up to no good.
The boys started taking steps towards me. I was going to have none of that though and so, before they could even reach me, I turned around on my heels and started sprinting away from them. Without thinking further, I ran into the forest, hoping to find a somewhat safe space where I could hide. The boys' screams were still behind me as I heard them chase me and a quick glance behind me confirmed my suspicions.

"Shit!" I exclaimed as a branch on the forest floor almost made me lose my balance.

For once in my life I felt happy to have been bullied as the memories of bullies chasing after me triggered my fight or flight response. As you probably have figured out by now, my response is flight. My legs didn't stop running until I had shaken off the three boys that were hot on my heels a few minutes ago. A few sharp turns, however, and I had parkoured my way out of a potentially dangerous situation.
After what seemed like forever, I finally stopped running and hid behind a big rock. My breath was the only thing that was heard throughout the forest and I tried to calm down to ensure that no one could hear me. If those boys were still around it was ensured that my breath would give away my hiding spot.
