It was another foggy, rainy, cloudy day in London. Nothing special, just the mundane drive to work. But, it didn’t stay that way. Once I was finished with my daily work I had to take the garbage out at the end of the day. As I walked to the garbage in the alley, there was something different. I saw a man dressed in all black on the sidewalk starring at me, you couldn’t see his face but I knew he was watching me. I got out my pen just in case, there have been a few muggings lately and I didn’t want to be another statistic. As I picked up the garbage to put it in the can something lunged at me, just in the corner of my eye I saw this black blur attack me! I felt a sharp burning pain in my neck, and I saw it was the man dressed in black he managed to charge at me in seconds. I rammed my pen right into his eye it broke off as he jumped back and ran. I was horrified! I felt these marks on my neck as a stumbled into the office bathroom, two spaced deep sharp stabs right in the side of my neck. I washed them out and went home.
I took a few days off but about two days later I was becoming very sick. I would look in the mirror my skin turning pale, my hair becoming pitch black and perhaps strangest of all, my eyes turned to an unusual gray. I went down to the hospital and met with a doctor, he thought the hair and eyes was just me being superstitious because I was sick. I hid the marks on my neck and he prescribed me a multi vitamin, figuring I was suffering from bad diet or something.
About three days after the incident I had done some online research on my conditions. What I found terrified me, they all pointed to “vampirism” or being a vampire. I tried to rationalize it, but it made sense I was bitten in the neck and now I was beginning to fit all of these various conditions based on superstition. After finding that I could be a “vampire” I went to the church and had a word with the priest. He didn’t say much, he thought I just needed a tan. But he knew…
A little after the priest stopped by my house unannounced I was rather surprised. I invited him and gave him a cup of coffee. He set a cross on the table and as soon as he pulled it out I got a terrible headache. And then he pulled out a small vile of water, and out of nowhere splashed it on my arm! I jumped, it burned I thought it was acid!
“What the hell!” I yelled with my hand over where he splashed me.
“You’re a demon!” He yelled and pointed!
“That’s crazy!” I defended with an uncertain voice
“Then why did you jump!?” He accused me.
“It scared me you crazy old man, not every day you have some man just splash water on you! It scared me!” and as I gestured at him he saw the burns where the water hit my arm.
“You’re arms got burns on it! You’re not just a demon, you’re a vampire! You fit the description to a tee!”
I stared at him blankly trying to keep him from seeing the bite marks or getting more evidence for his crazy idea. But it didn’t make much of a difference. Out of nowhere he pulled a knife, decorated with ritualistic marks and it was made of silver. And he charged me! The knife dug into the skin of my arm when I blocked it, it didn’t only cut me it burned me!
“You crazy old bastard!” I yelled and then I took the offensive! I lunged at him and pushed him, he went flying a good meter and hit the wall, crumbling some of it! He looked at me in fear, but I was equally surprised at what I did, I felt super human. He jumped to his feet and I swung with my hand, and as I did my finger nails extended like claws! I hit him on the side of the face, three long jagged cuts in the side of his face! He stumbled to the side of me and ran for the door. He ran pretty fast for an old man, quick enough to get to his car and peel out in seconds.
