Dire Wolf

Prologue

BONE

Bone sprints to the woods, panting, longing for water. He keeps running, trying so encredibly hard not to stop. He looks back into the dark valley and see the men are still chasing after him. His home is not far but still couple 100 yards away before he could finally take a break.

"STOP HIM!" they yell. The group of men ready their guns and aim, trying to get a clear shot on him. Bone dodge behind the trees, using nature as cover. The bullets hit the trees instead of Bone, he grows scared ,knowing that one of the bullets could hit him. Tending his grip and arching his back, he paces onward. His heart beats faster then ever. Every second of running is making him tired and weak. He doesn't give up and sprints faster. The voices of the men fade behind him. The commander of the men yell in fury, knowing they have lost Bone. Bone keeps running, trying to get away.

The moon shines down on him through the trees, lighting the way to his home where it's safe and warm. He knew that Dusk was probably waiting for him, hopefully with supper and a fire. The wind blows through his fur keeping him cool. He sniffs into the air and smells the scent of cooked rabbit nearby. He knows that it's from the cave.

He sees the cave in the distance and sees light coming from the entrance. He starts walking instead, he's tired, waiting impatiently for his food and nap.

Dusk hears him walking nearby and greets him at the entrance. She sees him in his tired state and knows that something is wrong. He notices she's  in her human form and transforms to hug her.

"Are you okay?" she asks, worried that he could be hurt.

"Yeah, I'm fine." he lies. He can't tell her about the group of men chasing him or his recent activities. He has been killing farm animals for the past few months. It is an activity banned by the Alphas. Even though they were their own pack, Dusk still doesn't approve of the action, which is only done by wild wolves.

"You sure? You look like you've been chased by something."

More like someone. He says to himself.

"Nah, I was just running for a while. I got keep in shape, you know,"

"Okay, did you go to town and get some eggs like I told you too?" she had sent Bone to get some eggs for breakfast tomorrow. He had forgotten since he was busy feasting on some cows and chickens.

"Maybe..." he says. He felt bad and stupid for not getting the eggs.

"Bone! I told you to go the store and get some eggs, where were you all this time then?" she yells impatiently, knowing that he is hiding something from him.

"I'm sorry! I saw a deer and wanted to chase it down, instead of buying some lousy eggs. We're wolves, for heaven sake! We should be hunting for meat and not eating eggs and hanging with humans!" he feels angry since Dusk has been a hanging with the humans and spending more time in the town than at home in the cave.

This makes her angry, she can't take it anymore. She grabs her bag and transforms into her wolf form and heads out. Without hesitation she leaves Bone alone in the cave, she doesn't even look back.

"Dusk! Come back, I'm sorry!" Bone yells, hoping that she comes back. Bone grabs a bottle of water and gulps it down and He eats his rabbit. After , he goes to bed, he wants to look for Dusk but knows it's useless. He kills the fire, lays down, and closes his eyes.
