My hero in the night

Autumn's POV

I was just out roaming around the streets around midnight. I clearly knew it wasn't safe to be outside, but I couldn't stay home and listen to my parents fighting and screaming anymore.I had enough of it.

I was near the bay, just looking out to the water. Somehow water calmed me down. I don't know for how long I stood there but it must have been for a while, cause I suddenly felt a presence near me. I turned around and was met by a tall man's chest that I crashed into and was about to fall, but the stranger wrapped his arms around me so I wouldn't fall. I held onto his waist and breathed out. Until I realized that I was basically hugging a complete stranger. I quickly backed away until I saw his face, but then I noticed that it wasn't a complete stranger. It was Luke freaking Hemmings that was standing right in front of me.

'' I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, you looked like you had something that was bothering you so I thought that I could come over and maybe help you '' His thick accent lingered around the air. It sounded so beautiful.

'' Umm.. I was just ... '' Not quite really wanting to admit what had happen at home '' admiring the view '' I managed to say, damn, I should've grabbed a jacket or something before I ran out. Just thinking about why I had run out made me shiver.

'' Oh okay, are you sure? You're shaking, are you cold? '' He asked. I hadn't even noticed that I was shaking. Fuck, this isn't good. He couldn't see me break down now.

'' I'm ... I'm just '' I tried to hold back my tears but one slipped away from my eye. Luke noticed and took a few steps towards me and wiped it away. He took off his jacked he had on and placed it around my shoulders.

'' Hey, It's okay, do you wanna tell me what wrong, maybe I can help? '' He said and warped an arm around me and pulled me into his chest again. I took a deep breathe, Thinking I would never see him again so I let it all out.

'' My parents are always screaming and fighting with each other and I'm getting tired of it, I have enough problems being bullied at school, trying to get good grades and staying healthy. But it's hard when you have no support from your parents or friends, the only ones I have is you guys. You always saved me when I thought it was all over for me, that I didn't have a purpose in the world. I don't know for how much longer I can take it. I trying to be strong for you guys and I'm thankful for this opportunity to meet you. You're my favorite of them all and I'm sorry for just ranting about how much my life sucks and that, but thank you for being here and listening. I really needed someone who I knew was gonna be there for me. '' It was hard to just pour it all out but it felt a bit better now that I told Luke. I didn't dare too look up and meet his eyes so I just stayed where I was and closed my eyes and inhaled his scent.

'' Look... um '' he stopped and then I remember that I hadn't even told him my name yet.

'' I'm Autumn '' I chuckled a bit.

'' Well Autumn, I'm sorry to hear all that with your parents and what's happening at school, but from what I have learned about you now its that you're a strong woman who just needs a bit help... '' He trailed off, thinking '' And I'm gonna be that person who helps you. I'm glad to hear that my band have helped you and I still hope that we help you enough. Please don't ever give up. You have a purpose here in the world, don't you ever forget that. There's a lot of people who needs you, even if it doesn't seem like it sometimes but trust me. I'm here now and I'm not leaving. Now is it any place where you can stay tonight? I don't wanna leave you alone ''

'' Thank you so much Luke. I really needed to hear that. Thank you for being my lifesaver! '' I hugged him and felt his arms wrap around me. '' And no, I got no place to stay tonight, I don't wanna go home to my parents and hear them scream anymore ''

''Well I don't usually do this, I mean, I'd never done this before, but if you want, you can come with me back to the hotel I'm staying at. If you want too, you don't need to and I understand if you don't. It's just that I really don't wanna leave you alone in the middle of the night ''

I stood there looking at him, quietly deciding how I should do. I slowly started to nod at him, watching his concerned smile turn up into a real smile that I loved.

'' C'mon then, I'll show you the way '' He placed his arm around my waist and then we started to walk towards where he came from. The hotel he was staying at wasn't that far away, which I was glad about cause my legs started to hurt.

'' You can take a shower if you want '' He said after closing the door.

'' Um... okay, thank you Luke, that's really nice of you '' I smiled at him.

'' Of course, You can borrow a t-shirt and some shorts, I just place them outside the bathroom '' He said as he showed me where the bathroom was. I thanked him once again and stepped into the bathroom. Soon enough, I let the warm water run down my body and I sighed, enjoying the warmth.

When I was finished and had picked up the clothes Luke had left for me, I couldn't help to have a big smile on my face. It finally felt like something was right in my life, almost like Luke had saved me, and I knew that he had saved me. I quickly tied my hair up into a messy bun and stepped out.

'' Um... '' I whispered to myself and started to walk through the small hallway. I saw a couch and decided to sit down there for a while until he returned, wherever he was. I soon heard footsteps behind me and the smell of pizza filled my nostrils.

'' Oh, you're done, that's good, I ordered some pizza, I didn't know if you wanted some but yeah, I can order something else if you want '' He smiled at first but that soon dropped when he realized that I maybe didn't even wanted pizza.

'' No no, it's fine Luke, thank you '' I smiled at him, trying to reassure him that it's okay. '' I happen to really like pizza''

'' Oh good thing then '' He smiled back and sat down on the couch next to me. He sat pretty close to me, not that I didn't mind that. I liked his closeness.

'' So wanna watch a movie? '' I nodded and we grabbed a slice each and starting eating. 

About an hour later, we finished the pizza and were watching some marvel movie, I didn't remember which one. I was too tired to listen before so I just nodded. I leaned my head on Luke's shoulder. I felt him stiffen but a few seconds later he relaxed and wrapped his arm around me and pulled me closer to him so I laid on his chest instead.

'' Go to sleep now princess, I'm here, I'm not leaving'' He whispered and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. I smiled and closed my eyes.

'' Thank you Luke, for everything '' I said before I let sleep takeover me.

So here's a one shot for you guys. I feel a bit bad that I don't gonna be able to update on Close As Strangers but I hope this maybe makes it up a bit ^^
