"FINALLY I can not believe our junior year of high school is finally over!" Ben, Bella's best friend since preschool, said as they walked down the steps of Westwood High School for the last time until September.
"Don't you think that time is flying by too fast?" Asked Bella
"You know that I like things to fly by! My dad says college will be the best time of my life, and I can not wait! Are you going to the start of summer bond fire tomorrow?"
"I don't think so.. you know I don't like stuff like that."
"Oh come on you have to! All the tourist will be there, and we always scope out the newbies"
"Well we will see, I have to work tomorrow morning"
"I can't believe your mom always makes you work at her restaurant during the summer."
"It's not that bad, and plus I get surf breaks, remember?"
"Well I guess you have to have some perks with your mom being the owner and all"
Bella just rolls her eyes. Ben always makes jokes about her mom being her boss but she doesn't mind. Like he said she does have perks.
"Whatever Ben, I'll catch up later"
As she walks away Ben yells "I'll see you at the bond fire!"
Bella doesn't want to tell Ben the real reason she doesn't want to go. Max, the boy she had a crush on when she was twelve was coming back to the island for the summer. She hadn't seen him in six years but she had a feeling seeing him would still stir up some leftover butterflies. She just hoped she wouldn't embarrass herself in front of him again.
