"Vikku!" Sonam squealed. "My prince!" I smiled. Sonam always managed to amuse me every time I saw her, even though it's been nearly two years since she joined my company. "Hello Sonam," I said, not taking my eyes off her. Her eyes were dreamy and she hiccuped. In one hand, she had a glass half filled with wine. In another, she held her sketchbook, open on a fresh page. How she managed to open the door for me, I don't know. She swayed a little on the spot. Clearly, She was drunk.
She left the door open and walked across the living room into her bedroom. I paused, unsure of whether I should follow her, but then I heard her drop something. Smash! I immediately ran into her bedroom.
Half her bedroom was bright and colourful, and half was not. The colourful half had the weirdest posters and pictures of what I assume were her friends. The other half mostly had pictures of her family.
Sonam lay at the foot of her bed. She looked adorable in her over sized grey T-shirt and white shorts. She had a bottle of wine in her hand. She was staring at me when I turned to her. She was so cute, I had to take a moment to try to remember why I came here. "Sonam, I need the plan for phase 2 immediately," I said, trying to sound authoritative. She only giggled. "Yes boss!" She pointed to her desk. I walked over and grabbed the black file that I needed. There was an envelope beneath the file that was addressed to me. I glanced at her questioningly, but she signalled to me to open it. And I did.
"What?" I whipped around. "You're RESIGNING?" She smiled. Her eyes were wet. She took a swig from her bottle and patted on the bed next to her. "Aao, idhar beto." I sat down furiously.
Sonam was one of the prettiest girls I'd ever met in my life, both inside and outside. Her clumsiness was amusing and she was always the first person to make me smile everyday, for the past two years. My life seemed less complicated once I met her. She had this way of making you feel your problems didn't matter much. And of course, she was an efficient worked. I can't lose her.
"We can't lose you!" I told her. "We need you." A tear rolled down her cheek. I was confused. Why was she crying?
