Love Me Again

Chapter 1

AT THE ENGAGEMENT PARTY

Mackie made his speech. We are at the center of the stage we're both holding a mic, standing next to each other. His other hand around my waist.

"You're not like the girls I dated in the past." He started

"All of your ex-girlfriends are models." I answered

"You never wanted me to pay for your dinner."

"I'm a strong independent woman."

"You're always in doubt. You always worry."

" I just wanted everything to fall in the right place."

"That is what I love about our relationship. You always have an answer to everything. Babe," Mackie continues. "You are the perfect girl for me. I can turn my back to anything, to anyone just to be with you. I would take a bullet for you, and I know you would too. Never think that you don't deserve the best out of this world. You deserve it babe, and I would give you all the best things in the world. I love you."

"I love you too."

"Everybody let's give it up to the future Mr. and Mrs. Michael Angelo Collins"

That is one of the most fondant memory of us. The day Mackie gave his speech. It was a beautiful day, it was our engagement party. All of our closest friends and family are there with us to celebrate a great day until....

July 27, few weeks before our wedding

I received a call,

"hello,"

"I'm looking for Ms. Brenda Clark" the person on the line says

"This is she." Ianswered

"Ms. Clark, this is Officer Ramirez, we're sorry to inform you that your fiancé Mr. Collins had an accident. He's currently at national hospital."

I went to the hospital as fast as I can. When I arrived at the nurse station of the hospital the nurse told me that Mackie is currently on surgery.

He had an accident; his car was hit by a truck. He had a broken leg and the most painful of all he lost his memory. Not all of it, just the memory of me.

What happened that day is still vivid to me. The surgery was done; Mackie was transferred to a regular room after spending 3 days at ICU. I was watching over him. It's been 2 weeks since the accident. He woke up, I was so happy to see him finally woke up.

"Hey Babe, are you okay?"

"Who're you?"

"Babe, it's me. Brenda."

"Son, his your fiancé." Catherine, Mackie's mother, answered.

"Mom, I'm not engaged."

"Son, calm down okay. Rick call the doctor."

And Rick run out to summoned the doctor. And there I was standing. Frozen.

When Mackie said those words, I was terrified. The guy I love the most can't even remember me. His face was like he saw some stranger. He looks like his terrified of me, or just terrified to find out he was engage to me.

Mackie's family is good people. They are good to me the entire time.

The doctor talked to us,

"Mackie is suffering with traumatic amnesia. The concussion on his head during the accident might have caused him that. We still cannot say if it's permanent or not." The doctor said

"But Doc, why is it just me that he can't remember?" I asked

"We still can't say. We're lucky he can still remember something most cases of traumatic amnesia can't remember anything. Mackie would need all the help he can get. We should help him not just with the physical and mental recovery but also emotional. I'm sorry Ms. Clark."
