   Chapter 1

The back story

December 1742 in the middle colony it was a bitter cold winter day and on the out skirts of New Jersey a German girl named Katarina was getting yelled at for not being able to help around the house but sweeping and sewing clothes.

"You stupid girl I thought I raised you better." Yelled James her step-father from hell.

"I'm sorry Papa".

"You better be," Tossing Katarina into the bitter snow.

"James she is 7 and sick she well get better, so let's go eat," whispered Lilia. Karenna mom, within crying. "Then you better get me, my beer." After dinner the little family went to bed.

Though James had good amount of money he made Katarina sleep in the shed and lay on hay, this made Katarina more and sicklier.

As the winter pasted James left, for it was spring time to get a shipment of stuff to sell. James was a food store owner and had many slaves that he beat till bleeding or begging to live. James's killed his slaves and was raciest to them. Katarina went to school but this year her mom let her stay home for she was to sickly to go. As spring turned to summer Katarina turned 8 and was more beautiful than a woman in pretty dress. Katarina had eyes that were green as emeralds and pale white skin like snow, her hair the color of chocolate. As the days got warmer Katarina got better and went to school to learn how to be proper. She learned how to drink tea, how to sew and to walk she learned how to do all it fast and was at the top of her classes.

James would hurt Katarina but no matter how rude or hurtful he was Katarina was always kind and respectful for she was happy that she had a home bed food and family. So she was glad to have him. This made James mad. Because he did not want her respect but her to fear him. As a result this caused James to hurt her more. Still she just kept on smiling on and on. Lilia felt bad for her child so she got punished to for saving her child. James was good but he drank so much that it caused pain in the family.

Katarina got so sick that Lilia missed a town meeting that he beat her like she was 1 of his slaves. Years pasted and James got worse to the point that in 1750 Katarina's mom forced Katarina run in to the woods to hide from James. Well running she heard horse feet stomping the ground thinking it was James she ran faster and faster than a arrow just missed her head, she was so scared that she fainted hitting her head. Everything got dizzy when she saw a face then it all went dark. This is the end and the end is the

beginning.
