Brynn gazed at herself in the mirror. Annoyed, she fiddled with her long, brown locks, trying to untangle them. Unfortunately, she couldn't seem to get her hair to obey today.
Which was unfortunate as it was her mothers wedding day.
You might think she should be with her mother, helping her get prepared.
But the thing is, her mother hated her.
She was invited to the wedding because her mom's future husband wanted them to bond.
Yeah right.
Brynn's mother had abandoned her in a foster home when she was eight.
Not because she couldn't care for her, but because she didn't like her.
In her eyes, Brynn was an ugly monster who was never meant to be born.
Brynn thought the same.
She'd spent her whole life in a foster home, just to be kicked out on her eighteenth birthday.
She moved into a rundown flat in Brooklyn, but struggled paying the rent.
Eventually, she got kicked out of there too.
For a year, she'd been living on the streets.
Cold.
Hungry.
Tired.
She used to sing from her spot in the doorway of an empty shop.
Sometimes people would toss her a coin.
Mostly storm past her, whispering, sometimes never looking her way.
Until the day when a news crew stopped by her to film something on the homeless.
Of course, Brynn was singing.
And, of course, the world wanted more of her.
She got picked up by a talent agency, where she became a vocal singer to some of the worlds hottest celebs.
Of course, at this point, she could afford to get herself a nice apartment.
And clothes.
And food.
And a life.
You'd think it would be nice, right?
Well, one of the other vocal singers was jealous of her abilities.
So, of course, she blackmailed her.
And then, of course, she got fired from the talent agency and the singers she sung vocals for.
She still had enough money for her nice apartment.
And clothes.
And food.
But by this point, she had no life.
She was twenty-one.
And she worked as a waitress in a small cafe.
But she still had more than she had on the streets.
And for that she was thankful.
She had a fair share of friends back in the day- at school, at the foster home, at the talent agency...
But none stood by her long enough to hear her side of the story.
And who did she blame her life on?
Her mother, of course.
