Alex threw her plastic knife at the attacker's neck, killing it instantly. It was a killer robot; not unusual in this world. One touch from one of them and you were dead. Fortunately, there were still two people left on earth.
"MELODY!" Alex screamed. "Alex, I'm right next to you, I'm not across the store." Melody assured Alex while eating her fries. Alex picked her knife up from the robot's neck, examining it. "Right." Melody threw out her garbage and motioned for her friend to follow her.
Alex stuffed the remains of her food into her mouth and swung her backpack over her shoulder, then followed Melody.
Numerous robots were slowly approaching from the other parts of the mall. Alex pulled a pistol out of one of her back pockets. Melody took several throwing knifes out of her pockets. They were now ready for attack.
The girls set out on opposite sides of the store, throwing knives and shooting bullets straight into the necks of the robots, killing them almost instantly. Melody tucked her pup down in her bag! "Stay down, I don't want you too die like the rest of your family." she said quietly so Alex couldn't here. The small pup curled up in a little ball as Melody zipped the bag up leaving a tiny gap. Melody turned around quickly to see a robot a metre away. She swiped her bag and darted.
Alex had backed herself up in Hot Topic. "MELODY, A LITTLE HELP!" she shouted. She quickly ran knocking over a mirror causing it to shatter on the ground. She slid under a table standing up hitting her head off the ledge " STUPID TABLE I'M GOING TO FU-". "NO SWEARING!" Melody shouted before she could finish.
Melody managed to make her way towards Alex. Grabbing a piece of shattered glass throwing it into a robots neck. "Alex, the dog's is hungry!" she said, keeping her voice low. "Then feed it, dummy!" Alex said annoyed. Melody walked into a Pet Smart, scanning the isles for dog food. "Maybe you'll be better are finding food yourself," Melody whispered to her backpack as she took it off.
She opened the bag on the ground. A small husky, a few months old, staggered out of the bag, dazed by the sudden light. It sniffed around for a moment, then headed to the food isle. Melody followed her dog until it stopped at a shelf of dog food. Melody picked up a can, opened and fed the dog.
Alex, meanwhile, was looking at bird posters. "I've always wanted a bird." She muttered. Shrugging, she went to find Melody and her husky pup, who was finishing up the can of food. "We'll take a few of these for the road. Alex, do you mind if I stuff a few cans of dog food in your bag?" Melody asked, letting the dog hop into her bag again. She put the backpack on.
Alex opened her own bag, studying what was in it. Spare clothing, crackers, a journal, pictures of her family, tickets to musicals and hockey games, and personal hygiene materials. "Eh, I don't have much room, but I guess I can carry a few."
They exited the pet store. "Where to next?" Alex asked Melody. "I'm going to go find better transportation then our feet," Melody replied, "how does electric scooters sound?" Alex grinned. "Sounds pretty great to me."
When the duo was back outside, Melody took out her own gun; a bedazzled AK47. "I'll handle the left side, you got the right?" Melody started shooting at robots on her side. Alex took out her pistol and started to aim and shoot on her side. "Darn it! I can't aim to save my life!" Melody complained. "Well," Alex said, pausing her shooting. "You kind of have to. I don't want to be the last human being alive, please."
When the majority of robots was cleared, they took off to an IKEA to get their electric scooters.
