"Hurry, we must leave the child! It is the only way to keep her safe!" The hooded woman pronounced. "We can't just leave her, she'll die on her own!" Her companion exclaimed. However, the woman sat the child on the doorstep before her friend could finish her sentence, making sure she was safely under the eave of the rooftop.
The other stranger took one last glance at the sleeping child and took off into the street, melting into the shadows of the night, her companion following after her.
The porch light flickered to life, illuminating the baby girl's peaceful face. The door opened to the porch, a young man stepping out, searching for the source of the noise he was sure he had heard. After one last glance, he stepped back inside, and went to close the door, when he glanced down, seeing the child resting on the wooden steps.
"That's strange... I wonder who would abandon a child like this. I'll have to see if mother will take you in." Murmured the boy, stroking back the small strands of hair on the child's head.
This is where the life of this boy and his mother turned around, altered by the innocent child in his arms.
