"Go men, go!"
Those where the words that opened the passage to death. They charged forward, bullets burning around them like wasps, battlecries and shrieks of pain from both sides exploded in the chaos and confusion. Atlanta burned and the confederate troops stared to fall back when a grand wave of grey uniforms surged from the ashes of desolation.
The jolt hit us like a stab in the back. There was no retreat. Out of nowhere fire erupted around the generals gaurd and we were set ablaze, the unhuman sounds coming before our death, shrieks of terror as bodies of the army fell. General Sherman was burnt to a crisp, more ash than man.
Then with the unberable heat I fell and my last thought at that moment was of what fate my son would have to suffer after my death...and then it was over.
