"Eden, John you get down here! You can't be late for your first day!" our mother called as I was placing the last few things in my trunk. I had been packed for weeks. John on the other hand, was shoving everything in last minute. Adam was already waiting in the car with excitement bubbling with his every move

With a bit of a struggle, I finally got my trunk to close, and I clicked the lock shut; I had never been so ready for something in my life.

I carefully pulled my trunk downstairs with great difficulty and finally loaded it into the car. Soon after, a very sweaty and out of breath John clambered down the stairs.

"Today is the day!" I yelled, before helping him load his large trunk into the small car.

"Margaret, how can you be so excited about school?" he rolled his eyes.

"Come on, come on we're already late!" Our mother said, shooing is into the car and swiftly starting the engine. As soon as seat belts were on, we were on our way to King's Cross Station; it was finally happening.

After a few years at a new school, John and I finally got our acceptance letters from Hogwarts. We had met with the headmaster because you're typically required to start in first year classes, but since our family is all magic and we've been learning as much as possible since we could walk, he let it slide. He even had the sorting hat sort us into our houses then; I would be going into year four in Gryffindor and John would be going to year five in Hufflepuff. Adam, however, was going into his first year and would be sorted during the feast.

After a very anxious and long car ride, we arrived at the station. When I finally saw the train, it all hit me harder than it ever had.

Adam cried and hugged mum with every bit of strength he had. He cried that he changed his mind and couldn't go, but soon, a little blonde girl tapped him on the shoulder and he immediately pretended he hadn't been crying. He told mum he would see her soon, and rushed off to sit with the girl who introduced herself as Melody.

I didn't realize how bittersweet the goodbye would be until I was wrapped tightly in my mothers arms as she cried.

"Promise you'll write. Every day." My mum sobbed into my shoulder.

"Of course I will."

We both knew it was a lie; I would be too busy to write every day,and so would she, but we would try to at least write every week.

The train whistle sounded, and it was time for me to board the scarlet engine.

John had already made friends on the platform and had left mum with a rushed kiss to go find seats with them, so I was left to find an empty compartment by myself.

With a kiss on the cheek and a rushed "I love you", I was shoved onto the train.

I searched the whole train car with no luck of finding anything empty, so I slide the door open to a car containing only one other person.

"Mind if I sit?" I smiled sheepishly.

"Not at all." he said when he finally averted his eyes from his book. When he did, I stood shocked taking in his appearance. The boy had messy blonde hair, broad shoulders and bright blue eyes that made my knees go weak. He was absolutely beautiful.

There was a long pause and then I realized I was still standing awkwardly in the doorway.

Quickly swallowing the lump in my throat, I shoved my backpack in the seat and sat down next to it.

I opened my mouth to introduce myself, but was silenced when the compartment door slid open and three more boys came in.

The blonde looked up and a huge smile broke out on his face as he stood quickly to hug them tightly.

"I didn't see you all summer Luke!" one boy with curly hair and dimples shouted. "Where were you?"

"I was traveling with my family most of the summer." the blonde, who I'm guessing is Luke, said.

I decided to stop eavesdropping on their conversation and return to my book I was reading in the car.

"Who's this?"

I lifted my head up and smiled at the boy who asked. He had tan skin and dark hair and deep chocolate brown eyes.

"I'm Eden." I noticeably shifted, somewhat uncomfortable with all attention on me. Instead of saying much more, I busied myself straightening out my plaid skirt.

"I'm Calum." A hand was pushed towards me. After a split second of feeling unsure, I decided I didn't want to seem rude and accepted the gesture, firmly shaking the boy's hand.

"That's Michael, Ashton, and Luke" Calum said pointing to each of the boys who were all now sitting. "But I think you and Luke already met."

I smiled at the boy who let me sit in their compartment, Luke.

Just then, the train whistle sounded once more before it started moving.

All excitement flooded back into my body and I moved closer to the window to watch us set off with anticipation.

"Wait, are you a first year?" The boy I recognized to be Michael said.

"No. Fourth." I said quickly.

"Then why haven't we seen you around? We're fourth years too." He said, disbelief evident in his tone.

"My brother and I were accepted late. We start this year in what we would've been if we had gone on time." I explained.

Michael looked almost embarrassed that he was wrong, but covered it up with a quick "Oh, that's cool."

"Do you know your house yet?" Luke spoke up for the first time since we started moving.

"Gryffindor." I said with a smile, noticing his tie that matched the one I had stuffed in my trunk.

I took a moment to look at each of them and their house colors. Calum was in Gryffindor too, Ashton was in Hufflepuff, and Michael was in Ravenclaw.

Luke nodded and smiled at me, then returned to talking to the other boys.

The train sped along the track for what felt like forever. But in reality, it wasn't too long of a trip; it was just my anticipation and excitement making it feel so terribly long.

Not long after night fell, we arrived at the train station in Hogsmeade.

As I grabbed my things, I heard a laugh behind me and turned around.

"You sure you're not a first year? You're pretty short to be in your fourth." Said Luke, in between his fit of giggles. I mean, it was true; I was pretty short for my age.

I rolled my eyes. "At least i'm not part giant." I joked about his height. He was slightly more than a foot taller than me and was extremely broad.

Thankfully, he wasn't offended and laughed it off, helping me grab my trunk.

We squeezed into one of the carriages that would take us to the castle, and I knew it then. It was finally happening. Hogwarts would be my home.
