BRIGHTON, ENGLAND (June 25th 2014)
My alarm clock went off at 6:30am, it's the last day of school before the summer holidays start. I got up from my floral patterned bed and changed into my uniform. It's blue, yellow and black. I quickly straightened my blonde hair and I put my glasses on. "Emily! Robbie! Come downstairs and get some breakfast!" Mum shouts. I make my way downstairs, carrying my blazer as my little brother runs straight past me, almost knocking me straight off my feet. I sit at the island as my mum smirks at us. "Everything alright, mum?" I ask. "Okay. I can't contain my excitement anymore! I'm going to just tell you!" she says. "We are moving to America!!
I choke on my cereal. "You've got to be kidding me?"
"No! Aren't you excited?"
I was so upset, how can I leave Brighton behind? Mirrin and Mya?
I gulp. "Yep. So excited." I wasn't.
"And Robbie, you can play baseball! And I'm sure our neighbours will be lovely aswell! Your going to love it!"
My brother speaks up. "What about dad?"
My dad. If we moved to America, we were leaving my dad behind. My dad had a really bad alcohol addiction just after Robbie was born. He lost his job as a mechanical engineer. He lost all his friends, and most of all, he lost my mum and his time to see us, got shorter. We see him on Sundays after church, it was usually for a good few hours, but now we only see him for an hour or two.
"Robbi-"
"Let's go to school Emily! Tell all our friends at school that we have a selfish mother who just wants us to move to America so she can be happ-"
"Robbie stop!" I yell.
My mum's face turned into a frown as her lip started quivering, her eyes filled with tears as me and Robbie left the house.

Me, Mirrin and Mya all stood at our lockers, all ready to go home and for summer to begin.
"I can't believe you are moving. All the way to America. Do you know where?" says Mya.
I shake my head. "She just told us we were moving to America."
"Well, do you know when?" asks Mirrin, scratching the back of her neck
I shake my head.
"Aw, bloody hell! You might not be moving till next year! Stop getting your knickers in a twist! Mya exclaims.
I giggle at her.
"Your mum wouldn't tell you last minute you were moving to a different continent the next day! Let's all FaceTime tonight and you can tell us!" says Mirrin.
My friends are so supportive and always there for me, they never fail to put a smile on my face.
The bell rung and the whole corridors went wild. Summer! Summer! was all I could hear. We all walked out of school, looking as chuffed as ever. We made it!
I gave my friends a hug as me and Robbie walk towards the car and we get in. The car ride home is silent until Robbie talks.
"Mum, I'm sorry! I never meant to lash out on you. I was just scared and sad to leave behind Andrew and Olivia. But America will be a good change for us!"
My mum smiled.
"It's okay."
"So Mum, will we get American accents?" says Robbie.
We all erupt in a storm of giggles as we pull into the driveway and see two large moving vans. A few men come out the house, carrying my bed. I immediately got out of the car.
"Mum, where are they going with my bed?" I ask, nervously.
"To America, silly! The flight is tomorrow morning!" She laughs as she walks into the house.
We are leaving Brighton, tomorrow. I haven't got to say goodbye to Mirrin and Mya, or my dad, or the others in my family. I run upstairs and I see that all the furniture that I had in my room was now gone. Only my suitcase filled with some clothes and my small hand luggage bag. Robbie runs straight into my room, he looks sad but excited.
"Everything's gone in your room too?" I ask.
He nods. "Emily. I'm scared, what if America is different, y'know?" he says.
"It'll be different Robbie, what do you expect? But we'll make sure to always stick together and we'll make new friends and we'll have loads of fun in America!" I say to him.
"Do you promise?"
"I promise."
