"Hey," was what came out of his mouth when he was sure she could hear him.
"Hey yourself stranger." She said as he walked up the steps. "How are you?" She hadn't seen him in eight days and was glad to see him.
"Good. You?" He was glad that she seemed happy that he had come to see her.
"Better now that I get to see you." She smiled at him and his eyes lit up. "What are you doing in town today?"
"I came to see you, is that ok?" He asked, suddenly worried that she might have something to do.
"That's more than ok. Today is my day off so it's me and you for as long as you want. All day if you can put up with me for that long."
"I think I can handle you for that long... Longer if I had to."
"He's flirting," she thought, "finally." Up to this point he had only been friendly with her.
"Ok first off are you hungry, because I haven't eaten breakfast yet and I'm starving."
"I could eat." He had eaten before he left Brown Town, but was looking forward to getting to spending time with her, and really he always had a little room for something.
She stood up and he followed her in the house. As he walked in the door he looked around getting a feel for the place. There was a wall that had bookshelves on it and they were filled. Not only with books but little knickknacks and photos. As he walked past he admired how random some of the things seemed to be: a jar filled with shells, a carousel horse, and a bobble head figure were just some of the things he noticed. The walls were covered in picture. Some were people, he noticed a lot of those were of her and a guy, the rest were of places and thing. He wondered who had taken then because they were good, and who the guy was... mostly who the guy was. On the other wall sat a TV in-between two tall DVD racks. He was in awe, he hadn't seen that many movies in one place outside of a store. She noticed him looking at them.
"I know, I know. I have a problem," she said pointing to the movies. "But you said you liked movies. After we fix something to eat, want to watch something." He nodded in agreement with the plan for the morning. "So, bacon and eggs sound good to you?"
"Sound delicious." He was still trying to take it all in. He couldn't help but think this place was her.
"Ok, so you don't just get to stand there and watch me cook. Can you grab the eggs and bacon out of the fridge?" She was grabbing pans out from in the oven.
"Sure. Put me to work," he said with a chuckle as he opened the fridge and grabbed the food from the shelf.
Back home he wasn't one who cooked, so he really didn't know his way around a kitchen. But maybe he would learn something watching her, he thought. He placed the ingredients on the counter and watched as she started throwing stuff in a pan haphazardly.
"So how was your hauling job?" She asked truly curious about how it went. He had told her about some of the mishaps that had occurred during some of the family's previous jobs.
"Actually this trip went good. The boat didn't break down. Bam didn't have a meltdown. No one got hurt. Deliveries were all made on time. Oh, but one thing did happen. So, we were taking this crate to these people. When we got there they were so excited that they opened it for us to see what was inside."
"What was in it?" Ruby ask curious as to what was in the crate.
"A giant stuffed armadillo." Gabe explained while stirring the eggs in the pan.
"What? An armadillo." He nodded at her confused look, "How big is giant."
"The container weighed nearing 300 pounds. It was 6 feet long, 5 feet high and 5 feet across. It was a giant stuffed animal."
