18 years of age, you think it's a large milestone in your life but really it's just another number in another year. You don't feel much different, you're just allowed to do more in your life. For instance; I can finally find my mate that I am destined to spend the rest of my life with, and yet, school still gets in the way.
"Come on Ness, you'll be late." My mum called from downstairs. Last year of high school, last year of dealing with creatures that won't accept me, for me. I wish I could just stay home, help mum with the house work or help dad with building extra rooms in our castle. But alas, I must head to school and face the other creatures. And try to get through my 18th birthday until I can get home and go for a run, let myself feel free.
I climb out of bed and slip on some clothes that were on my floor, brushed my bright blue hair, put on some mascara to make my purple eyes look darker and stepped into my shoes. "Morning mum!" I kiss her cheek as I bound into the kitchen and pick up a muffin she made. "Much on for the day?"
She flicked her short brunette hair out of her face and smiled softly at me. "Just cooking and cleaning." She sighed before turning to me. "My parents are putting me to the test!" I laughed and hugged her. "Happy birthday, sweetie."
"There's the birthday girl!" I hear my dad call from the other side of the room, his orange eyes making his already pale skin look even more pale. His hugged me, pulling back and smiling. "Still think you can out run me?" He teased.
"Dad, you're looking at the offspring of a vampire and a wolf. Of course I can!" I laugh and grab my bag. "And now I'm 18, I'll get the rest of my wolf traits, so watch out." I say sticking out my tongue before mum ushers me to the car and drives me to school.
We live on the outskirts of town in the mountain ranges so it's harder to find us. What my parents did, creating me, has never been heard of before. If the council finds out where we live we could all be in serious trouble. Crossbreeding has never been done and in the eyes of, well everyone, it should never happen. Hence the reason why I'm an outcast at school, but they haven't told the council where I am, or even that I'm alive as they want to give me a proper education. We go into hiding when we get home, dad has had this old castle for centuries, built into the side of a mountain and then planted trees all around the help better hide it. It's beautiful, if only I had a friend to show it to.
"Have a great day, sweetie." Mum kissed my forehead before I climbed out of the car and made my way up the front steps. Every morning, I get the same looks from the students, judging my life and why I am me, but luckily the teachers are nicer in that respect. I can feel my wolf cowering, she hates the first part of the day because it always starts the same. After first period things feel, normal, I guess you could say. Mate? She says quietly, as if questioning herself. I brush off her thoughts and walk to my locker. She's done this for the last few years, not fully understanding the process and it only makes it harder with my vampire genes.

The day moved slowly, but now I'm in Gym class, the last class of the day. I generally don't take part as I'm not a fanatic about sport and it doesn't help that the jock's are in my class as well. The two main stars; Theo Grayson and Xavier Gillan, but I do admit that it's nice watching them they are pretty hot. Both wolves, so they are strongly built, both with muscles everywhere. But in looks they are at opposite ends of the scale. Theo, the darker side. Chocolate brown hair, slightly shorter on the sides and longer on the top placed into a quiff and piercing blue eyes, as blue as the deepest ocean. Whereas Xavier has dirty blond hair, falling into his emerald green eyes. He doesn't tend to style his hair I've noticed, just let's it do whatever.
I shift my eyes back to my class work as they both look at me, quite intently as well, which makes me feel uncomfortable. The bell rings, thankfully, signally the end of the day. I grab my things and quickly run out of the gym and to my locker. Throwing my things in my bag, I heave it onto my shoulder and close my locker, spinning quickly and whacking right into a strong chest. I fall backwards on my back and look up at Xavier and Theo. "Hey are you alright?" Theo asks softly, bending down to my current height. I nod as he helps me to stand up. "You left quickly from the gym, Mrs Grover meant to give you your assignment back." He handed me a small booklet and smiled at me. "Sorry about Xavier," He rolled his eyes, "he doesn't tend to look where he is going." I look to Xavier and notice his eyes are glued to the floor.
