Sky
Everything has changed. My home, my family, my name, my entire life. We had to move house. I know, I know, I sound like a spoiled brat because I just said everything changed but I'm only moving house. Well, here's the thing, I'm moving across the bloody Atlantic Ocean, and the reason, I'm not getting into yet, too painful. But trust me, I'm allowed to freak out over this. After what happened, my family just isn't the same, which is understandable. I'm the one that looks after the family now, I know I shouldn't be, but my big brothers just can't do it. I have three older brothers. Jayden, Jaxon and Jason, none of which seem to realise that they're in charge of the family now and that they need to grow up for the little ones sake. I'm one of the middle children, I've got a little sister, Lacey, and a twin brother, Scot, as well. We all went through a lot, but despite the fact that the worst seemed to happen to me, it's affected them more. Either that or I'm just good at hiding it from them and myself. I know I shouldn't hide it from myself but if I don't pretend it's not there then who's going to look after the family? I have to do this for them.
"Sky? Skylar? Sky for gods sake, stop daydreaming and pay attention." Scot shook my shoulders, ripping me away from my thoughts.
"What do you want Scottie?" I teased him, using his old nickname.
"Never letting that go are you?" He huffed. I violently shook my head. "I figured. Anyway, that's us here, our new home-" I stopped him by putting my hand over his mouth.
"It's not our home yet, it's our house. Until they-" I pointed to my brothers, the three of them were mucking up, arguing over who opens the door. "-decide to grow up, and actually act their age, then maybe this place will be our home. But not yet." I grabbed my rucksack and got out of the car.
When I went round to the other side to get Lacey up, I heard Scot say "Can't argue with that.".
I gently shook Lacey's shoulder, trying to wake her up. "Lacey, Lacey wake up Hun, we're here." I said softly.
Lacey's bright blue eyes fluttered open. "Already?" She yawned.
"Yeah, it was only a half hour drive from the airport. Come on, grab your bag and help Scot with the suitcases, the moving van came yesterday and left all the boxes in the garage, you guys convince those idiots to bring in the kitchen ones so I can start dinner, then try get them to sort out the living room boxes." I said as I opened the boot.
They did as I asked and I went to tell my brothers to grow the hell up. Jax (Jaxon) had Jace (Jason) in a headlock, while Jace punched his stomach and Jay (Jayden) shoved them around.
"Guys-" I tired to say.
"Give me the damn keys Jace!" Jax shouted.
"Like hell I will!" Jace yelled back.
"Guys for gods sake-" I was cut off again.
"And another thing- why can't you just accept the fact she likes me mo-" I cut off Jax.
"ALRIGHT ENOUGH!" People passing by stopped and stared.
"I've had enough with your childish behaviour! You guys never used to be like this, you used to be mature, you never fought and you actually realised you had responsibilities. Well guess what? You have more responsibilities now ok? Mum and Dad aren't here to provide for us, but you lot are. Yes, I know Jace and Jax still have school but Jay, you're twenty years old, you have a successful job, it's still successful over here. Jax, Jace, you only have a month of school left, you need to get jobs, the bills are more expensive over here. We're not in Scotland anymore, we're not home, and hell, we certainly aren't a family, which means you lot need to grow a pair, and take care of them!" I pointed to Scot and Lacey who were taking the suitcases out of the car, oblivious to my shouting. "I don't care if you forget about me, but if you dare forget them and their needs, I swear I'll bloody kill you. It's not about Mummy's blue eyed boys now, because you're not boys! You're men, you're all the legal age, you don't have mum or dad to do everything for you anymore!" I grabbed the keys and stormed off inside, slamming the door behind me. I pressed by back against the door and slid down to the floor.
