"Baby, it's early morning on Tatay's place. He might be sleeping still. You don't want to disturb him from sleeping, do you?"
"It's okay, Mommy. He would answer it. He told me he will always answer when I call," Cali answered.
Napailing na lang si Raffy. His son's faith in Ethan was indestructible. "Are you sure?"
Even before Cali answered her, he was already speaking with his father and immediately told him what they were doing. Hinayaan na lang niya na makipagusap ito.
"Nanay, Tatay said he wants to talk to you," Cali said.
"Tell him I'm driving," she declined.
When they got to the place, she parked her car and took Cali out. There were some people performing on the place when they arrived and she walked with Cali holding her hand.
I saw the sign
Someone approached them and asked them.
"You want to join us dancing?" the man on his costume asked them as they walked. There were a lot of people gathered around the dancers.
She smiled at them. "No, it's okay."
"Come on, it's okay. We know we are all tired and stressed from our lives and this is a really nice way to relax and have fun," he tried convincing her. Another man approached them and did the same thing.
And it opened up my eyes, I saw the sign
"Maybe next time. My son's hungry now and he can't skip meals," she politely declined. Cali continued walking beside her, just looking at the men talking to his mother.
Life is demanding without understanding
The two men in their costumes started dancing beside her though they stopped talking. She was feeling awkward but continued walking straight ahead. Cali was staring.
I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes,
I saw the sign
Despite her attempt to get past them, the two dancers got them headed to the part where there were a lot of people dancing with the main ones. They weren't able to get past the crowd at that point so they stood where they were watching the dancers perform.
"Mom, what's going on?" Cali asked her.
"I don't know babe," she answered. "Maybe they are having a street party."
"Can't we go now? I'm hungry," he complained.
"Let's just watch them for a while then we'll go," she smiled and patted his cheeks.
The people were all synchronized dancing the same steps at the same time though they were randomly scattered. There was also a couple who was doing some cutesy steps and was enjoying it.
No one's gonna drag you up
To get into the light where you belong
She herself was enjoying while watching the five dancers gracefully move with the music. She got immersed with what she was seeing that she forgot for a while that the little guy beside her was hungry. She remembered the times when she was joining performances and would be dancing with a certain group and the songs she was hearing were all familiar. The people around them were clapping their hands and were singing the part 'I saw the sign'.
"Mom, you know the song?" Cali asked her, shouting since the music was loud and the people's cheers were matching the sound.
"Yes, babe!" she answered back. "I once danced to that song!"
