Chapter 15

She forgot when. "I'm irregular. I think that was two months ago," she said and her heart started thumping.

It can't be.

"When was the last time that you had intercourse?"

She felt too much pried. She doesn't take note when they do it, for heaven's sake.

"Estimates are okay," the nurse told her.

"Two months ago, I think," she said.

"Are you pregnant?"

"No!" she said defensively. "I'm sorry, I m-mean, I d-don't know."

The nurse smiled at her and handed her a kit. "Better to be sure. You know how to use this?"

"Yes," she answered nervously.

"Good. The restroom's the first door when you turn left from the nurse's station. The doctor might request for a blood test after," she said. "Show me the kit when you are done."

Seff quietly followed her as she headed to the restroom. Raffy went in and did what she needed to do. She was nervous and excited at the same time. If it turns out positive, what would she do? If it is negative, she'll be relieved and somehow disappointed too.

After two drops, she waited. When the results came, she went out and gave it to the nurse she was talking to.

"Thanks," the nurse smiled. A doctor came to check on her after a while and ordered for a blood test to be made. He also asked her for her medical history and the signs and symptoms she was feeling. They waited for the test results and when it came out, they followed the doctor on his office.

"So," the doctor smiled. "Congratulations."

"Why?" Seff asked the doctor, clueless.

"You're going to be a dad."

"Congrats."

Seff finally spoke. When the doctor confirmed that she was 7 weeks pregnant, both of them stopped talking. No one spoke until Seff sent her home. She didn't respond.

"We have to make your check up regular. The food you will eat needs to be healthy. You have to take your vitamins. It will be better if we'll drop by and buy them now."

She just nodded.

"When will you tell Ethan that he's going to be a father?" Seff suddenly asked.

"I don't want to tell him," she answered.

"Wait, you wouldn't tell him? Bakit?" naguguluhang tanong nya.

"When I left, sabi nya na wala na kami pag umalis ako. Alam mo naman si Ethan. Once he said something, papanindigan nya yun," she said.

"I know but the situation is different now!" Seff exclaimed. "You have a baby. He's going to be a dad. He has to know about this."

"Ayoko, Seff. Hindi ko sasabihin sa kanya. Ayoko na makadinig ng kahit ano pa from him. Nasaktan nya na ako. Ang dami nya ng sinabi sakin. Hindi sya naniwala sa akin. Do you think he will believe me pag sinabi ko sa kanya na he's going to be a father? He hates me at this point Seff. Hindi nya tatanggapin and he would just accuse us of something we aren't," she told him.
