"Just a CNA" that's what I hear people say,
But to tell you the truth, I don't think you can do my job everyday,
I go into work with a smile on my face,
Ready to conquer the day, ready for my patients warm embrace,
"Just a CNA" well could you do what I do?
Could you deal with the impatience, while trying to clean up poop,
Could you take care of the sick,
Or comfort them when they cry
Could you work a day in my shoes?
I dare you to try
Could u hold the hand of a resident,
As they take their final breath
As you say your final goodbye then you yourself go home to rest
Showers, vitals, and beds to make,
Just how much could you really take,
Call lights going off like crazy
Running up and down the halls
Trying to get it all done
Trying to catch a break, if you even get one at all,
"Just A CNA" always understaffed and underpaid,
But this is what our life is each and everyday,
I take care of your loved one,
And I do it with pride,
It's not just a job,
It's my passion, it's my life!
12 hours or more I put in,
When it's over my body just hurts,
Before you say I'm "just a CNA"
Tell me, could you do this kind of work?
