Chapter 3

"Uh. What are you doing?" I asked anxiously. 

"Will you go on a date with me Alli Jo?" He asked with an adorable little kid grin plastered to his face. 

He was much more mature now. 

"I really like you Charlie. So that's a yes." I responded.

"Yes?" He double checked. 

"Yes." I replied my smile growing on my face faster and faster.

He stood up quickly and pulled me up with him. 

Engulfing me in another bear hug. Picking me up and twirling me around the room. 

"She said yes!" We heard someone say outside my closed bedroom door. 

I stepped away from Charlie and tiptoed towards the door. 

The floorboard creaked. 

"Crap! She's coming! Scatter!" I heard Jackson say distinctly. 

I tore the door open and they all froze. 

They all had a look of terror on their faces. 

"Was this planned?" I questioned.

"Uh. No?" They said all at once trying to play it off. 

I felt arms slither around my waist.

Charlie set his chin on my right shoulder. 

We looked at the boys for a bit. 

Then.

They ran. 

Charlie and I laughed.

Then I turned around in his arms and placed my hands on his shoulders.

"Two more questions." I said.

"Okay." He smirked at me. 

"1. Where are you gonna be staying? 2. Where are we going on our date?" I asked.

"1. I think I'm gonna move in with Grandma Rose. She's kinda lonely. 2. You'll just have to wait and see." He smirked at the end. 

I inwardly sighed at his adorable smirk.

"Okay. Well then 'When are we going on our date?'" I asked one last question.

"Um. Well. Are you available...hmm...now?" He asked in a serious yet joking tone.

"Well...it's movie night. So. If you want that to be our date. Then yes. If not. Then no." I responded.

"Okay. That'd be a perfect first date. Then your brothers will know I won't do anything." He said cockily.

"They should know that already. They've known you for years." I replied. 

"Yea. Well I've been gone for 2 years and a half. I'm a changed man now." He said sarcastically.

"Whatever goober." I pushed his face away from mine and darted towards the stairs. 

I could hear his feet pounding down the stairs behind me. 

"Eric!!" I yelled when I reached the bottom of the stairs and locked eyes with him.

"What's wron--" I cut him off as I hid behind him like a little kid does behind their mother. 

"It's Charlie. He's chasing me." I pointed towards the stairs. 

We saw him and I hugged Eric from behind. In pretend terror. 

I rested my chin on his shoulder and locked eyes with Charlie.

"Wh-who's this?" Charlie asked pointing an accusing finger at Eric.

"I'm Eric. Nice to meet yo--" I cut Eric off once again.

"Yep. This is Eric. My favorite person in the world." I stated quickly. Charlie's eyes hardened a little. 

I planted a kiss on Eric's cheek. 

"Jackson!!" Charlie yelled.

"Huh?" Jackson responded as he came down the stairs. 

"Who is Eric? What have I missed?" Charlie said pointing an accusing hand at the two of us. 

"What have you done Alli you silly girl?" Eric whispered in my ear. 

Jackson chuckled to himself and rolled his eyes. "Charlie. Eric's gay." 

A weird look crossed Charlie's face. Like he was mentally punching himself in the face. 

"Hehe. Step away from the girl Eric. If ya know what's good for ya." Charlie replied jokingly but sadly Eric didn't take it as a joke.

I was left alone. 

All my brothers, Eric and Charlie. 

They circled me. 

"Uh-oh." I stated quiet and shyly. 

I saw a small opening to the kitchen between Charlie and Jackson. 

I tried to make it. 

I failed.

Epically.

Failed.

Charlie got a hold of me and threw me over his shoulder. 

Crap.

Jackson whispered to the others.

"Where are we going?" I squealed lightly hitting Charlie's back.

"For a little swim." Charlie stated. I could sense the smirk was planted to his face once again.

"NO!" I yelled. 

They took me out the back door. 

And threw me into the pool.

I. Am. Soaked.

"Hey, Charlie. Could you help me out?" I swam to the edge and reached an arm up. Batting my eyelashes.

"Sure thing, Alice." He said smirking as he made his way toward the edge grabbing my hand.

I yanked with all my might and muscle.

Luckily my brothers telepathically knew what I was thinking and gave Charlie a gentle nudge to help a sista out.

There was a lot of laughter and more people jumping in the pool.

This was a pretty great surprise.
