I wake up to the sun in my face and the torn curtains swaying in the summer wind. The winds didnt feel like a good wind, it felt likes The Day of Death's Feast. I get up and plant my feet onto the cold, splintering floors. I shiver. "Damn, the floor is cold." I mutter. I dont complain since I cant do anything about it. I walk to my sister, whom sleeping in my mother's room. I lost my sister after my mother was sacraficed for our family 'crimes'. I walked up to ny sister and toyed with her braid gently not to wake her. I place a kiss on her forhead before going back to dress up. I was going out to find food. I go to my room and pull on a casual shirt and some jeans and slip on shoes. I yawn and fix my hair into a low ponytail. I look at the scar on my face with a smile. I got it when me and my father were hunting, It was amazing. I caught a squirrel on that first hunt. I poked at it before going into the town square to pick up my food. I could hear my pouch of coins bouncing around as I skipped to the merchant place to get me and my sister our food.
-Timeskip-
I stared at the gates to a freedom I would never know. I could hear the farmers praying that the potatoes would grow because of the Sacrifice of now my life this year. I would become teary eyed because of it. They tell me that I was born here, I should be willing to die for the village's safety and well-being and most of all, because my family is the apparent reason the village has to lock in the villagers. We caused them agonizing pain, but it's their faults my family did what they did.
I know I can't leave because I have no where to go. I let out a exasperated breath of frustration as my death grip on the bars of the rusted gate were Tightend as I stared at the colorful world outside of the village. I knew I wasn't born here. I knew I was dragged here due to me and my mother's sudden short comings. We almost starved to death because of that.
"Shay?" I hear my Sibilings small voice ask as she hugs me and her braids brush my back gently as she lays her head on my back. I was gone while she was up I guess, that might have worried her. I noticed her outfit for a day like this.. A day of death's feast day. I'm sure she can hear my heart beat quickening as I hear the cliping of footsteps in our direction. The Death's Feast manager.
This person was a tall woman who was adorned with fair skin and blonde hair with a silver charm bracelet. Her brown, sharp eyes land on me, making me flinch. She gives me a sickly smile as she greats me and my sister.
"Hello, dearest." She says, kneeling down to us. I hold my sister close to me. I nod slowly. "Hello.." I mutter quietly, mustering up little to no courage to speak. "Your ready to pay your price?" She said, smirking as the blood drains from my face and I . I tried to stop them from killing my mother and my brother, but I was unsuccessful, and my sister would be left without anyone. I feel hot tears flow down as the dam in my eyes broke and let free the river that swelled in them. Feel my sister hang onto me.
"Your not going like the others! I won't let you!" My sister cries into my shoulder. I stroke her head and hug her to try and calm her. "Don't let them get away with these killings.. little sister, I l-love you, I want you to remember me, brother and da-Dad, and mom. Ok?" I asked, as a sob strangled my words harshly. She shakes her head. "No! They won't take you!" She says, glaring at the blonde woman. The woman only smirked.
"Death's Feast doesn't start till 3, I can wait." She says, making me grit my teeth. I knew she wanted me to suffer, and my sister. I stared at the Death's Feast Manager. I only waited for her to make a move.
She then looked paled. We stared at each other for a good minute before she began panicking slowly, like the prey when it's been caught by the predator. I watch as she begins to scream, making a scene.
"SHE DIDN'T DIE! WITCH RIMA IS STILL ALIVE INSIDE THE GIRL!" She screeches, horrified at my glare. My face twist into a confused expression. "A witch?" I ask innocently, but not innocent enough as I feel a needle in my arm, and my vision darkens as I hear my sister's screams for me to wake up, the world goes black.
