"Fire? I'd say more like force, Doc." Jace tried to hold back the smile that was threatening to show. "Besides, shouldn't strength be more than just randomly being able to stay alive? She was lucky." But despite his dismissal he still couldn't quite keep a grin at bay at the thought of the force behind her swing. She definitely had fire that was for sure.

The last bell of the day rang and Jace stood up. "I guess I'd better go grab my books, I kinda missed a few classes there."

"Make sure you don't miss too much for this hospital, Jace, you can't have a future without an education."

"I know, Doc, thanks." Jace pushed out of the room. He hadn't lied when he said he was heading to class, he was just planning a short detour to the Guard wing first. When he's first found Bree and it became clear no one was rushing to find her Dr. Jones had gotten him to put a request in with the Guard information desk. They would take the picture Jace had given him, scan it through the Academies database and present him with whatever file matched up. The information desk coordinated a lot of things though, and Bree's file had seemed to take an extra amount of time to dig up. He figured if they hadn't already pulled a file providing a name would help speed the process along. The surprise on Bree's face when he'd told her no one had come looking had gone unnoticed and she has been slightly more jumpy than he thought the situation warranted. Something was off.

"Hello?" He called, reaching the wide oak desk in the apex of the Guard section.

"Over here, dear." The file keeper who was a thin, gray-haired old lady waved at him from the other expand of the expansive desk. Jace smiled. It was hard not to around the sweet old lady. Since his father was a Guard he'd practically grown up around Mildred. Always playing with her behind the desk while his father was in meetings or seeing her at Guard banquets and dinners they hosted at their family unit. She was always sweet, kind and loaded with candy.

"I was wondering about a response on my request to access that Jane Doe file. I have a name now if that helps."

"Hmmm...just give me a second, dear, I'll have a look. I actually think it finally came through this morning" Jace waited expectantly until the elderly lady found a small brown file in the depths of her bottom drawer.

"Ah-ha. Let me see, let me see, hmmm. Oh! Here it is...Jace Andrews...hospital...main foyer...oh look at that - permission granted." She handed him the slip with a smile, "Bree Michaels, yes?"

"Perfect. Thanks Mildred.'"

Before he could walk away Mildred covered his hand with her own. "Now dear, just a heads up - this may not hold everything you're looking for. Her parents were part of a project at another Elite Academy that allowed her family to keep their files restricted. It will tell you a lot about their history on earth of course but in terms of her life here on our new planet, well, there's very little."

Jace just nodded already skimming the file as he headed out. Rather than the usual three or four pages on bar ratings, affinities, grades and medical histories Bree's file didn't even cover a page.
