The girl's name is not important, but the events that happened to her are.

                                                                               -------------------------

                                                                    May , 1943                    Poland

The girl walked slowly marches together with the other prisoners  towards the wagon as countless German guards and German shepherds stared at her coldly with their lifeless eyes, screaming at them to move faster. Step by step, she slowly approaches the wagon. Just as she arrived at the entrance of the wagon, she turns around and looks at the countryside. "The trees are beautiful" she announces. The guards are stunned for a moment but quickly recover. "Walk" barks one of the soldiers. The girl sighs and enters the wagon.

Movements later, the wooden doors slam and close. All daylight vanishes in a instant. Seconds later, the trains' wheels start to spin. The smell of odor and feet fill the air. It takes her a while for her eyes to adjust to the darkness. When they do, she see 20 others just like her, all cramped into the tiny space with her. The girl knows many of them, most captured during their failed ghetto in Warsaw. They all had the same weary face, their eyes filled with fear of what was to be their fate.

The girl speaks up, "Where are we going?" No one answered him. No one replied. Partly because they were all too scared and frightened and because they didn't know.

A hour passes. They still haven't arrived at their destination. The girl puts her hand in her pocket, searching for something. In a instant, she pulled out a photograph. She look at in, in it is her father and herself. She thinks of the happy times she had with him, all so long ago. The girl manages a smile and had a long needed yawn. She realises that she need sleep. She closes her eyes and in seconds she drifts to sleep.

The girl finds herself in a street in Warsaw. Rumble and demolished building lie everywhere. Her father is next to her, wielding a STEN gun in his dusty hands. "They're coming! Run!"he screams. The girl's thoughts are confused, but she understands in a instant. She hears German shouts and gun blazing. The father fired several shots at them, but there were too many. He body shakes violently and jerks back. Blood blows out his back and his body falls on the ground lifeless. "No!!!!" the girl screams. Several soldiers then ran out with their guns aimed at her. She turns and runs. As she does, gun shots erupt and she falls on the ground.

"Ahhhhh!!!"The girl screams, only to realise that it was a nightmare. Most of it was true though. Her father had died in Warsaw during the ghetto. She blinks hard, trying to forget the sight of bullets ripping her father's body in flesh. The girl looks around, only to find everyone's asleep. They were all snuggle up, like sardines in a can. She takes out the photo once again and looks at herself. Her once short blond hair was now long and filled with dust and dirt. Her face is filled with scars and blood due to the fighting. Her clothes now torn like strips of newspaper used for paper mache. The girl frowns, thinking if this bloody war would ever end. She closes her eyes and fall asleep once more.

"Wake up. We're almost there."The girl wakes up, slowly gaining consciousness. She then see a boy in front of her, looking down on her. "Oh we are?"Replies the girl "Thank you for telling me." The boy frowns and moves over to a corner and sits down. The girl takes out her pocket watch and see the time. 3:45 am. She discovers she slept for 12 hours. She realises that's there's no way of knowing where she's heading. She curses, it will be impossible for her to know where and how to escape to.

Minutes later, the train screeches to a halt. The girl hears shouts. Seconds later, the wooden doors open at last with a wham. Everyone is temporary blind due to the sudden light. Several arms reach in, grabbing everyone in the wagon. The girl falls out. Her eyes adjust to the daylight, picturing several guards with their guns aimed at the prisoners. "Leave all your belongings in the wagons!"shout the guards. The girl takes out her pocket watch and her photograph. She looks at them one last time and then leaves them on the wooden planks, walking away from them. "Line up Line up!" Bark the guards "One line for the men! One line for the rest!" The girl walks into the line. Many others follow. Minutes later, they started to move.

The girl's group began walking to their "bunks". They walk past several buildings, inside each one of them are dozen of people, all wearing blue and white striped uniforms. They also had the same weary face and skinny body, almost if they hadn't ate for weeks. The girl suddenly shivers, wondering if this wasn't a prison, but a concentration camp.

Movements later, they arrive at a set of stairs leading down to a door. "Go down" say the guards. The group slowly does as they are took. The girl walks down the stairs. Step by step, she begins to fell more uneasy. She turns and ask the guards, " Where are we going?" One of the guards smirk." You'll find out soon" he replies. The girl gulps and walks through the door. She will never come out alive.

Years later after the war, the girl's mother looks for her in the list of those who did during the holocaust. She hopes for the best, but knows the changes of her survival are slim. Unfortunately, She soon finds her name. There was her name, how she died and where and when. The mother looks closer and manages to see the words Auschwitz, gas chambers and 1944. She weeps for a long period and from that day on till she died, she never slept well at night.

The girl was one of the many jews that were captured in Europe during world war 2, in which is now know as the Holocaust. Many of them were sent to death camps, where they were gassed to death and exterminated. A total of 5-6 million jews were killed in total during this terrible event. May we never forget those innocents killed during the Holocaust.
